what did you trade for it? when you open the 1st gen specific page, look for a title at the top "FAQ of 1st gen". Alot of question can be answered there. I just increased my gas milage and power on my 83' rx-7 gs with the 12a, I put on a custom straight pipe to replace the three factory catalytic convertors in the exhaust system (actually for some reason my car only had two??!? then I converted my leading spark plugs (the main ones, there are two per combustion chamber), to distributorless ignition system DIS, using a leading ignition coil off of a 2nd generation 86-91 rx-7, if you want details search or pm me. anyways, my gas mileage is a lot better. good luck with your new ride, i wanna see some pics.

What kind of sound do you get when you are driving? Does it seem to originate from one side or the other? I just had an oil seal go out, which trashed my bearing, so it could be that.

Check to see if there is grease or anything all over the inside of the wheels, if there is a lot of grease, it's probably that seal, cheaper to replace than a rear-end, so i'd check that first.

Just as far as gas goes... you should be able to get about 25+ if tuned right with all stock. I'm getting about 21 to 23 and i horse around in mine some. but most of my driving is hwy

I don't think you can get 25+ mpg if the car is stock, with a few modifications then yes. idk. that is an excellent deal, your car is way cleaner than I imagined. as for the differential, for $75 bucks is a good deal, if you end up not using it you can probably re-sell it. but i think 79-82 rear end is the same then 83-85 is different i'm not sure, it would be awesome if that is a limited slip differential which would come off of a gsl model. LSD is a lot more fun than a stupid open differential. haha

there is one problem with it and it is the front end was hit i think but not too much damageuntil you look under neath then everything is bent up like all the sheet metal is bent and the bumper is tweaked im gonna fix that this winter along with some parts from a parts car that isnt in bad shape but i might acquire for bout 100$ but not sure year of it. im gonna be in an auto body class in january soill have the tools to straiten that front end.
but thats it for now
