Hello all

Does anyone here have a 6port 12A manifold that they want to sell?

i think they came on Jspec 12A's from 1981-85..i think.
Sorry that i had to post this here but its such a rare part that i need most exposure.

Thanks
Jon

The best advice I can give is to accept that that will happen to you many more times.

I don't know about that. The GSL-SE RE-EGI had 135HP and 133 torque. Since the 12A had smaller ports and smaller rotors without EFI, I'd have to say its output was lower.

Hmm, just speculating here, but perhaps it did peak up to 135HP, but the torque would have been lower than the 6 port 13B. Does that sound right to everyone?

Well, for some unkown reason, all of the jspec engines seem to have more net hp than the usdm ones. I have heard a higher figure on the 12A 6-ports, but I don't recall what it is. Perhaps someone on the European forum would know as they got the 6-ports, along with the Aussies.

I wonder how that engine would perform with an sp on the primarys and secondarys, with a bridge on the aux ports? There's another idea for your experiments Jeff.

If you read here, http://cp_www.tripod.com/rotary/pg18.htm it mostly talks about the 12A turbo. Read closely for the 6 port 12A information. Some of the text appears to be an excerpt from the 'Yamaguchi book'. The carbed 6 port 12A is referenced a few times. Too bad he didn't exerpt the 6 port 12A info as well.

I think I know the reason(s). Larger exhaust ports with different timing, different jets and air bleeds in the carbs, later intake closing (up to 50° in EU-spec engines), and even different mechanical advance curves on some models. Yes, the little weights down in the bowels of the dizzy had slots with an interesting curve compared to our straight slotted 12A dizzies or the slightly curved GSL-SE dizzies.

The problem with porting a 6 port 12A is the front and rear plates have oval shaped runners below the round aux runners. The port timing closes at 40° like US-spec 12As, but may not allow much porting beyond that, the manifold is set up in an unknown way (I have not had a chance to look into it), the porting would have to be compatible with the flow capabilities of a Nikki, which having not examined it yet, I have no idea how it's set up.

It's cool to think about, but if I was to build up my friend's 6 port 12A, it would have to retain its 6 port functionality. It would go into a project car that would benefit from these unique features. The length of a 12A with the low end of a 13B, but the high end of a 6 port.

Oh yeah, his manifold is lacking the aux port actuators. I'd hope GSL-SE units would work. Otherwise they'd have to be wired open which would kill the low end and pervert the reasons for taking on the project in the first place.
