5 easy steps to install 6x9's in the rear location!!!

I FINALLY finished installing my speakers, and running all the wires, in my new ride. So here are the pictures.

FIVE EASY STEPS TO INSTALLING 6x9's IN THE REAR!!! (haha, yeah right)

Step 1) Note the stock speaker position.

Step 2) Simply cut out a hole to fit the 6x9's. Position the hole off of the port towards the rear of the car (see photo)

Step 3) Create a couple of riser plates to offset the insanely large speaker magnets of your new beauties.

Step 4) Install the plates, and seal them to the wall.

Step 5) Install your speakers, and ENJOY!

Its as easy as that! To do both it should take around 15 minutes to a half an hour, depending on the sharpness of the razor blades you use to cut the metal.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA just kidding that took me a few days, at about 5-10 hours per speaker. The front took about jsut as long. You can see the front here:

http://www.sounddomain.com/id/iotusrx7

on page two.

BTW, it sounds great!!!!

Peace, Geoff

Nice.

Does the trim still fit over them or did you have to cut it.

In hindsight that's probably how I should have done mine as it would have been a lot easier. For mine I built a moulded ply/MDF panel that sits across the rear of the hatch. Looks and sounds great but was a pain in the *** to make.

No, i'm goign to have to cut the trim, or do something, i dont know yet.

That is for another day.

The problem is, the riser plates stick out so far (i wanted good bass back there, so i didnt take any chances). The second problem is, they arent lined up perfectly w/ the trim covers, and part of the cut will go into the wheel well portion.

Cool dude. I'm interested in seeing how it looks when you get the panels back in. Although 6x9's would be nice, I'm gonna go with 5x7's in the back. They should fit much easier and I might even be able to leave the panels unmodified and have it still sound good. maybe....

I understand the desire for 6x9’s as I wanted the same thing for mine. I ended up putting a 100 watt Bazooka in the back and I am so happy with it. I have a 200 watt Sony stereo with a built in crossover output. It sounds fantastic and I didn’t have to cut my baby.

Oh, i'm putting two 400w RMS thunder 8000's in the back, being controlled by a RF bd800.2, bridged between the two.

I'm not cutting any corners w/ this sound system.

[rant]Not too sound like im being an *** or anything, but i actually prefer the sound of my exhaust!!!! I was afraid of doing the whole "system" thing because afterwards its like having a 400 pound friend sitting next to you all the time, throwing off the nimble handling nature of the car....[/rant]

when i'm driving for driving's sake, i like the sound of my exhaust too. Thats when i hit the "power" on my 400 pound friend, who is normally talking non stop. You see, this is why artificial friends are much better than real ones. You turn them off when they get annoying.

True, but you can't kick your artificial 400 lb friend out of the car Not easily anyway...

My most recent solo II time went down by about two seconds when the instuctor got out. Another of several reasons I'll never install an XXX lb stereo system in any car I drive spiritedly (is that a word?...is now )

Well when i wanna race i unplug the subs, and pull the box out! voila. Insta-power. Heheh.

Thats one trick, drive making yoru car purposefully slow, so when you fix the problems, it goes really fast! (as fast as it regularly should anyways)
