The freind I spoke of earlier has a built cobra motor in his 85, and just finished installing a widebody kit and a vortech supercharger kit. He is pushing around 500 hp and runs the gsl rearend in it. He has had no problems so far and has been driving it for a month, almost daily. The stock 7 rearend are supposedly good to 700 hp, then launching becomes an issue. As far as people saying that it screws up suspension and weight - all bullshit. Unless you have personally put a v8 into a 7, dont throw crap out that you think may be true. The suspension is fine, it is not affected at all, plus the car keeps its 50 - 50 weight balance. Also the v8 weighs fractionally more, we are talking about a 17 pound difference, my freind and I weighed the 12a with tranny when we removed it, and then the v8 with tranny before we dropped it in. The car was autocrossed every race all last season plus drag raced on the weekends and has done very well in both catagories, top 3 in my area as far as auto x goes. Pretty good for having messed up suspension..... As I said before - here is not the place, its like trying to talk about Jewish values on a **** chatroom, all you'll get is hate and naysaying. Your best bet would be grannys speed shop, call them andthey will help you out with anything you need.

Fact is its been done and they have kits out for it so that you can do it without fabricating your own mounts. Just don't junk the motor when you do the swap, please.
I still don't see the big deal. I don't see the toyota or datsun crowd going into uproar when one of their people decide to throw a rotary into a corolla or a 1200.

I would say if you have the engine already, do it. V8 7's are amazingly fast, and the 5L engine is perfect one for a 7. Same weight as a rotary, MUCH more power with fewer mods, and more reliability with that amount of power. A V8 will make 300hp more reliably than a rotary ever could.

Go to www.grannysspeedshop.com . They have lots of info and kits to make everything work. They carry kits for Chevy V6 and V8, Ford V8. With these kits, everything is almost bolt in.
