4th and 5th gear bogging
On the highway the Car('83 FB GSL) bogs and hesitates a lot in 4th and 5th when i try to accelerate. I assume it is something to do with the carb. When it starts bogging i just clutch in and rev it a bunch and it stops. Bit confusing to me as i know nothing about carburetors.
Would it be because the secondaries aren't open soon enough?
Is it getting too much fuel at low rpm?
What could it be?

The bogging effect is usually due to a lack of proper air/fuel mixture relative to the current load on the engine. If you are cruising in 4th gear at 2500 rpms and you press on the pedal, the primary butterflies open and air velocity through the open port sucks fuel out of the jets. As you accelerate, pressure builds up due to the load on the engine (trying to go faster but there is not enough air/fuel to make it happen) and the secondary butterflies open from a vacuum signal. When these butterflies open the increased air velocity in these two new ports sucks fuel out of the secondary jets.
So, if you step on the pedal at 2500 rpms and you bog, it could be one of two things. The first could be that the primary jets are clogging and you are getting too much air relative to the amount of fuel. Or second, and this is more the likely cause, your secondary butterflies are openening too soon and allowing air to enter the engine without enough velocity to start pulling fuel through the secondary ports.
Did you remove the spring in the secondary actuator box? Are the mechanical secondaries?

Have you performed a tuneup yet? Plugs, wires, cap/rotor, air filter, fuel filter should all be checked. If you try to troubleshoot a specific item before you perform a tuneup, you can end up chasing your tail for a long time. Just imagine performing a full carb rebuild, only to find out afterward that you had a bad spark plug wire?
I would also add a can of Seafoam to the gas tank.

I'm with fuel filter and the fuel pump. If your starving for fuel.
I took out pump. Sprayed it out with cleaners, then flushed and back flushed it with a garden hose. , It improved the fuel flow 100%. It looks like the fuel pump can be taken apart, I was unable to get the screws to turn loose on mine. SC
