I know the higher HP at high RPM the farther away the torque is, but that's too damn far. Do you know of any supercars like that? I don't. There are quite a few supercars with over 600hp and still have at least 575 lb/ft torque. I'm not sayin the 787B didn't have 450lb/ft. It's just kinda sad if it did.

5252 is the magic number for torque = HP, but if the redline is around 5 or 6 grand, the two numbers are likely to be close, due to the engine being optimized for that rev range.

Why is it too damn far? Is the race car heavy? Are there many points in the race where it will be accelerating from a dead stop? Again, having the torque peak low in the rev range gets you off the line quickly, however, if your gearset is designed to keep you around your power peak once underway, the peak torque matters not.

Getting back to the point, I thought the difficulty with a more-than-3-rotor engine was assembling. You need a split e-shaft to go beyond 3 rotors.

The 4 rotor vett was the product of many years of failed atempt to make a good 4 rotor engine but the best they cound do is stack 2, 2 rotor engines, and befor they could finish the project Gm canceled there rotory program.

Go diesel yeah a 200 hp diesel can make more than 400ft/lb of torque when tuned to do so.

No, go steam. A 1920's Doble can make 200 HP and 2200 lb-ft of torque.

The other quote was talking about a diesel for pickup trucks I am sure. Although 425 HP and 1875 lbs ft. cannot compare to the min amount of horse and 2200 lbs ft. of trq. that damn steam engine made!

The numbers produced by the 1991 787B are not entirely uncommon for an LMP racecar for its time. If its number dissapoint you then check out the air restricted R26B powered WR LMP which ran Le Mans in 2002 : 480 HP & 368 ft/lbs.
Again as an example the 1994 Ferrari 333SP produced 650 HP & 330 ft/lbs of torque, which is less than the Mazda... yet the Ferrari is the only car that has won in its class in all three of the major endurances races in the world : 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring, not to mention numerous top finishes as well over the last decade.

As far as supercars go, even the street version of the McLaren F1 has a faster straight line speed than its Le Mans racers.
This comes to show you that when it gets down to racing and winning races, there are alot more factors that sum up than sheer output numbers alone... anyone who races their RX-7 should know this

Ya wanna hear and FEEL 4 rotors in live action?? Cmon down to SevenStock 7 if you can, its coming up very very soon.... Im sure Koby-san will fire up the 787B! and my neighbors from Autotech should have their turbocharged 4 rotor FD there as well.

Yeah. I would love to go to Sevenstock. Too bad I'm poor, still live with my parents, will be in college, and have a job. If tehre is any way I can make it I will. Supposedly this is the last Sevenstock. If anybody near the event has an extra room or bed or even couch that would certainly help with the money deal.
