3 speed auto to 5-speed swap need advice..

Hey guys... im getting ready to start swapping my 3-speed automatic out for a 5 speed transmission....

im wondering do you think it will be easier to drop the tranny and do all the work? or just pull the whole motor?.....

well i am hoping to get the show on the road soon so i hope you guys can help...

What FW will you be using? If its a lightweight that bolts to the CW then leave the tranny in. If your using a stock FW then the motor gotta come out. Dont forget to put in a pilot bearing in the E shaft!

It sure as hell makes it easier if you take the engine out, especially when you are changing the flexplate and counterweight for the fly wheel.

Now since I am doing this as well (actually 4spd auto... close enough) and I have a bad feeling that I forgot to put the pilot bearing in. Aside from pulling out the motor and checking, is there anyway I can tell if one is installed? What would happen if there was no pilot bearing in there?
