1. I am wanting to replace my carpet with a different color (maroon has gotta go). Anyone know of a good supplier that offers carpeting to replace the entire interior? One place does only the front to the back of the seats, a couple of eBay listings claim that they cover all of the interior, and JCWhitney does not state how much of the interior it covers.
2. I'm taking my time with the interior, moving from rear to front. This means taking everything out to expose the metal of the car. Should I even bother (I honestly think I won't have to, nor do I really want to) stripping (sanding/wire wheeling, etc) the paint off the interior metal before starting up a whole new interior(primering it up followed by insulation/sound deadening material)?
3. For the seats, would it be best to have two aftermarket bucket seats or just replace the driver seat and keep the stock one for the passenger?

I got my carpet from JCWhitney... covered everything, even the piece that hangs in the back. I got the mid level stuff... if this is you DD I'd fork out the money for the best of thier selection.
If you don't have rust back there no... just clean it very well with a good solvant. my $.02 about that.
For looks two aftermarket... if you don't care about looks just ask yourself how much you'll be a passenger in your car.

IAAutomotive has the molded carpet for the 1st gens. Many color choices availible. When I bought mine, I picked out 3 colors I thought would work and they mailed me samples of each. They don't make the rear piece, but they do sell matching carpet by the yard. 2 yards should be enough to do the hatch and bottom of the door panels. If you know someone that has a decent sewing machine, they can bias the edge of the harth area.
Stay away from the VB/Black Dragon carpet. I bought it for my 300ZX and returned it due to low quality.
