well, if i kept it w/3, i could eliminate the blinkers on the bumper (make it that blue lens), and keep the body lines ultra clean. But i see the point. Will play w/it more in the garage. My eyes are really tired by now.
..cant make it any closer, housings already tensioned together, and relax fit of the lights for good adjusting.

Hey DF, the picture of the car you posted, his hood opens backwards compared to all the others. What up with that? I know its not your car, but still, got any info on it?

PS - Good job on the lights so far. Id like to see it done with just two lights personally. Someone here a few years back had a primer car with a modified Miata kit on it, if memory serves, that looked DAMN good. I might have a pic still...
EDIT: Found the pics in my collection. Wish I remembered whos car it was to give them credit. This is EXACTLY what I wanted to do to my headlights.

ive had this idea for along time. i like wave, furai, curves. thats why 3 beam might be more appropriate-it floats, but never less this is basic idea for blinkers. punch holes and inset led points. if needed sand tips flat so horizontal sanded flatness captures light for "surface reflection"

Hmm... I don't know if using those types of exageratted curves on our cars would come out from a design standpoint...
our cars are rounded, but they aren't nearly as curved and fluid as say the Furai or the RX8 even...

Anyways, that is exactly the style of low profile lights I am working on for the first gen... well was working on.
In any case, I have the measurements for two 4" side by side lights like in the picture if you're interested.
I am taking my AutoCAD file to a friend to be redone in SolidWorks to try and get it more simplified, since my 08 AutoCAD is confusing me...

teddy..i dont know. a lot of things will happen to the body in the next couple of months that will change the looks of the body. with stock body i would say 2, but here... hmm-from every aspect i am aiming towards 3 (3 vents on hood, wide body with curvilinear motion, added side skirts which will widen out the looks, and personally i think that 3 lens look more appropriate for the application). On another hand, if i trim up the reflective baffle, it can nicely cover only 2 lenses...
I have a vary big idea for winter and spring. I am thinking about w furai/widebody fustion kit. This would be a wavy applique onto existing fiberglass. i will take weeks of visualization resarch, i will start drafting it soon looking for a good proportions. I dont even know if it will melt together yet, but if- it will be extreme.
On another thing i also need to focus on mustang rear end swap, so i can get the car rolling for glassing and sandgind spring time....in a day or two ill attach main flip hinges to frame and leave left w/3 lenses, and right w2 and let the look "ripe" in my head.
"DemonSpawn67".........................which lenses are you talking about, mine or one with a primed car. I can take measurements for you, but the width of the lenses is not primary. what counts is a width of the housing assembly which holds 3 adjustment studs.
"speedracer_not" I know basics of metal work. Did studied Industrial design (automotive model making) in school and that where big part of the skills came from. But most of all reading forums like this gives you the technique. I would say i'm feel more comfortable w fiberglass than w/ metal, but regardless thanx for feedback. Build of the first light took 8 hours+, and the second there i knew the technique-3h most. I would be delighted if someone used my project as a plan to base on.

...pretty sleek and thats with keeping original housing, i wonder if original surround would hold to it (or at least the sides). What happened to the red.7 bonet on the underside?: )
ihatetheTZ250
.... i will make surround. it is very simple. 2(3) rubber bands, spandex, fiberglass and resin. place spandex over, catch the lens rings w/ rubber bands, saturate spandex w/resin, and after dries reinforce w/fiberglass on the inner side. Glaze w/ bondo, sand and trim.
