2nd gen window motor fit in a 1st gen?
The power windows in my wifes 83 GSL seem to be getting tired. They are going up and down slowly with very little power. (have to help them up)
I don't know if it's the motor(s) or switches., I have lubed the all the moving parts on the reguulator and it helped a little but still not good.
What do you guys think?
Will the 2nd gen motors fit/work on it? I'm a 2nd gen guy & have tons of parts for them.

Check out this page. It should solve your problem.

Basically the design that Mazda used tends to burn out the switches.

OH, i see..............that = HELL! Well, it looks EZ enough. BUT..........throw in the fact that I'm installing a Microtech LT-8 EMS, new S5 ported engine & tons of other new things to my TII right now and it becomes.....hell.
Thanks for the link MosesX605. I smell manual windows coming.

I put power window in my S model out of a GSL with 215k miles on them. They work perfectly. The trick is to pull the window regulators out and clean 20 years of crud thats built up on the sliding rails over the years and regrease them. All that crud slows the windows down and makes the motors work extra hard and will stick somtimes while rolling up which is also hard on the switches because it pulls alot more current. Cleaning out the switches with contact cleaner also helps because carbon builds up in them over a period of time because of all the extra current that is passed threw them with durty regulators. My windows roll up and down very fast and smooth even faster than my 3rd gen. Hope that helps.
