2GDFIS Question

Ok, got my coils and ignitors hooked up, but I must be stupid cause I have no power going to the coils! I have the original power going to the leading coil now tied into both blaster coils (its a black wire w/ white stripe) and for the ignitors I have them spliced into the leading ignitor wire for the dizzy which is also black w/ white stripe. Help?! I checked with a voltometer and nothing shows!

so what now? you have two blaster 2's and a 2nd gen coil for the leading???
For the blaster 2, it is a direct swap of wiring...
and for the 2nd gen leading you just take the wires coming off of the ignitor and connect them to the + & - of the 2nd gen coil once the ballast is wired correctly.

Pics, hopefully this clears up some...

Pic 1, wires connected to old leading ignitor plug on dizzy, black w/white stripe. connected to both ignitors

Pic 2, these wires are positive wires connected from blaster coils to old original coil power wire, black w/white stripe

swap the plugs on the dizzy from trailing to leading. so you are doing the dual leading coil and not the 2nd gen coil...

how do the ignitors get signal when mounted on the fender? I woud put them back on the dizzy and just extend the stock wiring. From what I understand, you just keep all stock wiring except the jumpers between the two + and - sides of the leading coils.
PS- it is called DLIDFIS

The pickup on the dizzy where the original wires to the igniter are spliced into 2 of each, one for each igniter.

Are you getting the pickup signal from the leading or trailing pickup. I still think it would be easier to put the ignitors back on the dizzy and go from there. Trailing wires to trailing coil, and leading wires to on of the leading coils

do you have the diagram that jef20b did?
you dont want to ues the old power wire for the leading (i was told that it not good) run a new one from the batt.

ill check mine later and see how i ran the stuff when i did it.

he now needs 3 ignitors 2 for leading and 1 for trailing.
so he can no longer keep the leading on the dizzy.

oh, ok. That makes sense.
Did you test with a voltmeter with the car in the acc position? IIRC, the BW wire is wired for acc power.

Yep, checked for power at the coils and I am getting none. I dont want to hardwire it to the battery so that is out. I am gonna go look around it and see what I can do. I originally wanted to just replace the stock coils because the trailing was going out. When I got it in the mail it already had most of the wiring done between the igniter and coils.

PS. make shure that the plug wires are on corectly. when i did mine the wiring wasent to bad but i had the plug wires on wrong and it ran realy ruff. go fiure.

I have both red and green wires split and going into each igniter plug. I forgot about showing the other wire haha.

I have power on the B igniter plug and power on the positive coil. I dont know how sharing the same power wire would change anything, if it does let me know, I just dont want to butcher my wiring more than I already have. It is down to having this system running for me or the car will not run without having a new engine harness.

Spark Plug test: Both blasters are firing when I turn the motor over, but I have no trailing spark.

Jeezus, why didnt you just do the 2GCDFIS or is 2GDFIS better? I see there a few diffrent way to go with these setups. I'm an MSD or Crane Cams guy but the more I look at these set ups the more interested I am!

so you have spark from both of the leading coils.
did you check for spark from the trailing coil befor it goes to the cap??
if no spark try switching the igniter it may be bad.

I dont know how to check for spark before the cap? I know that the igniter I am using is good because I am using my old Leading igniter instead of the dying trailing. The guy who had this setup before me gave me the dizzy along with the igniters, and said the whole set up worked for him.

Latin: I am doing this because it came up at a great price and I was in need of an Igniter anyways. When/if I go turbo I will be using the ignition system from a TII. I still have a lot of planning to do, so dont quote me on that as of yet.

One more thing, If I have spark from the new coils for my leading, how come my car wont run? I know it will if you have leading and not trailing, but not the other way around.
