If you go to 3 rotor.com there is a guy who has built a 13b+1/2 of a 13B. He calls it 3ROTOR NOT 20B in a first gen. I think he had the engine built by Bill Nabham of Mazsport( the same guy that just built the 26b for the Beamer in Australia)

Jeff its looking sweet man, unfortunately i cant afford paint shop pro,so i have to settle for PS ...when do u plan on firing her up Jeff?? the red rx2 is very nice & clean but u might have a unbalanced car with that 20b hanging over the front axles....i think cutting the fire wall and setting the motor back a few inches would give you a front/rear weight ratio close to or better than stock...

But instead of asking random people on a forum like this, I'm gonna call Tito at Alamo Rotary in San Antonio, since he did my friend's 20B fd conversion.

when i owned that car it turned lots of heads around town. black with panasports mmmmmm. in the end i sold it because i prefer a sleeper. i actually got pulled over once doing nothing wrong because he thought i looked fast i guess (was going the speed limit hehe).
if Tito could make that car as nice as Derricks fd id be impressed

You'd have to have around 450 to beat a viper.. its got 500 HP, and 525 LBS of torque.. Even though the RX7 is about 1000 lbs lighter with 450 HP you'r only going to be putting out like 250 - 300 lbs of torque so the viper will probably whoop your *** in the 60ft time so you will need the extra HP to make up for it in your top speed and longer gears will help. If you build the engine to a redline of abou 9 or 10K you should have a pretty good chance. But if the guy has modified the viper at all your back at the drawing board..
Actually here's a better anwser..
You have to beat this:
Quarter Mile: 11.77 sec @ 123.6 mph
To encourage you:
Dodge Viper, 12 seconds, $79,995 plus tax.
RX7, 10 seconds, $1,000 + ($5,000 - $8,000)in mods.
You could build 10 rx7's that'll whoop his viper for what he spent on it. :P

Someday I'd like to get a gt35/40 turbo and street port the motor. That should put me over 400 horsies and give him a good run if nothing else. I can always through the cost factor in his face. He "only" paid 70k for his viper since it was a 2000 model year.

I personally raced one 2000 GTS model from a 2nd gear roll to about 115 and I had 2 cars on him, repeatedly.
This was at 17PSI, on my old non-drag radials.
The guy is a neighbor and a friend of mine.
From a dig, he had me by 3 cars for about the same.
but rolling, I had him every time.
I never posted it in the Kills section because everybody
was giving me slack about "street racing" without knowing the circumstances of the "track" (private airport runway nearby).

We raced there after work one day, in a hurry.
In case Security came to hassle us.
It's the same place where I do my "tuning" / high gear
speed runs.

I can certainly tell you that bang for buck, you will have a faster car with an RB. Might not be the status symbol, and it might not have eight litres of displacement, but it will be faster if you're prepared to spend the money.

Go ahead with the 20b. I would like to see it turbocharged though. Just make sure you beef up everything thats behind it starting with the tranny and diff. If it was me, I'd do a 20b turbo with upgraded tranny /diff (and anything else that can break from the power increase), upgrade the braking system, go with the fender flares like the ones from cpracing instead of the widebody kit(this is just personal preference, and through the fattest tire I could in the back without sticking out past the flares. Also, if I was gonna dump money into a 20b I would like to atleast push 500rwhp at a minimum. The most I've seen out of a 13b is about 700rwhp so I'm pretty sure 500 out of a 20b isn't asking too much but I think 700 might be a bit too much for me(in the beginning)

What's so big about beating a Viper? I could probably take one depending on the driver, road conditions, etc...but in the end I'd be no match for the top speed of the snake.

Yes the pic com from my F****'N video camera... the image quality is the result.... and i don't keep the original trany, axel ant tires( tires on the pic come from a GEO METRO hahahhaha)... the car is 103 HP stock whit the 12A ... litle difference whit the 300+ HP stock of a 20B.... just a litle question: why people are mostly running 20B n/a ?

I used a video camera to take my pic above. See the quality difference? Color difference? It's a black and white security camera.
I'm running NA because I can't afford an ECU, single large turbo, NPR (or whatever) intercooler etc. That's my reason. I'm sure others have their reasons. I will probably go turbo some day, but I'd also need to rebuild the 20B before then because it has a few miles on it already (which I also can't afford right now). Super cheap 20B swap for me will be as-is for now.
