Sorry about the double post. Stock 83 rx7 with full interior, 2720lb. Stock 83 trans with a 85 se axle housing. 225/50-15 BFG drag radials at 16psi tire pressure. Motor is a 87 turboII motor with a small bridge on the secoundary. Atkins 2mm 2peice seals. Motor has 150 miles on rebuild. T66 TO4E housing with a .96 hotside p-trim wheel. 21-24psi of boost. Stock 83 distributor running the stock mechanical advance. Fuel is run by SDS. four 680cc and four 550cc injectors. 1/2 gallon fuel surge tank with two 500hp?? fuel pumps. Home made water/air intercooler. Sprying a little water before the turbo. 3 inch t-body. Next month the rear axle housing will be upgraded so I can run et slick's to bring the 60 foot time down. Mid to high 10's at 130plus mph, I hope...

congrats on the run ...

2 questions though:
1 - what's SDS? an acronym for a fuel injection system or is it a company?

2 - how and why are you running 8 injectors?

just curious ...

SDS= simple digital systems out of Canada. I am running 8 injectors because I had the injectors. Do not have the money for 4 big injectors. SDS requires injector cc be the same for primary and secoundary. 2 680 and 2 550 for primary which I feel will idle better then two big 1600cc injectors. I hear guys having problems with trying to get the pulse width correct for idle. The engine bay looks really bad but if you have to see some pics, there is a link on my profile page. I updated a few time slips but not of the turbo and engine bay. I added two injectors right before the t-body. Please remember this is all done on a budget. 5000$

now you've definitely piqued my curiosity. i want to see pics (if you have some) of your intake setup, if you don't mind that is, if it's a secret, then i'll respect your right. it's just anything beyond 4 intrigues me ... i've heard of 6 (never actually seen it) but 8 ... WOW! i'm interested mostly in the mounting and the staging. yeah ... i heard the same thing about the 1600s, too. BTW, i saw your engine pics (not close enough to see the parts i wanted to see ) ... )

dude, be PROUD of your clutter because you created it. compared to every Gen I owner on this board you belong to a short list of people that have built something like this themself. everyone likes good looks, but i'm just as interested in the cars/engines that an owner built with his hands (and brain) and i don't think it takes anything away from you.

What do you want close up pics of? I will take them and post them on my home page. The 4 primary injectos are for idle to 3500rpm. At 3500rpm the primary injector pulse width is cut in half and the secoundary injectors come on line. I have no controll of this transition. This is why SDS requires the same amount of cc's for primary and secoundary injectors.

The BFG I have did really good when I was pushing 300-350 hp but now they spin pretty easy. When I drive on the street the car will get out of control when peak torque comes in at 6500rpm. At the track, it depends if the guys prep the track or not. I like that they do not hook up to hard for me now. It saves the axles and trans from braking.

really ... the pictures would be for me just to see WHERE they're mounted, but if it's easier just to type where they are, then that's fine, too.

in a nutshell, a while back i was making paper plans (as i sometimes do when i'm brainstorming) for a staged system using 6 injectors on 13B-T (using the stock manifold) - probably overkill, i know - but i spent some time in the EFI forum and got some info on how different size injectors perform (big vs. small) ... bottomline: my plan was to use 4 720s and 2 550s ... i just wasn't sure where would have been the best place, physically, to put the 2 550s.
hence: my curiosity was born on the whole placement issue ... that's all.

If I am understanding you correctly, I would say the best place for the two extra injectors is right before the t-body. That is where I see everyone put them.
On my set up, there are two injectors before the the t-body and two in the upper intake manifold. the other four injectors are in the original place. On my next intake manifold I will move the two from the intercooler pipe and mount them with the other two in the UIM. There is one concern I have with putting injectors before the t-body, If the hose comes off that connects the intercooler pipe with the t-body, you will have fuel spray on your motor and have a possible fire hazard. How are you going to controll the two extra injectors? If you are going with a Additional Injector Controller, remember you can not adjust the fuel cut on these types of units. If or when you main computer cut's fuel you AIC will continue to operate and you will run lean and blow a motor. I learned the hard way.

yeah ... that's what i wanted to know - the locations. THANKS. yeah, i've seen many people putting them right before the throttle body, too - but honestly, i never bother to ask why. partly because i decided to shelf my turbo ideas until i get my life sorted out (also because i decided an SE is probably the best place to start and i can't consider getting another car until i get my life sorted out - hehe!)
the one issue that didn't sit well with me was how would you guarantee perfectly equal fuelling between both rotors from in front of the throttle plates ... but again, i never bothered to ask anyone.

it's just that when i read your earlier post and realized that i'm speaking to a live person with more than 4 injectors it all came back to me and i couldn't help it.

rather than turning your thread into a dialog, i'll probably PM you from time to time with questions if that's okay ... but thanks again. and again ... congrats on your time!

Cool about the 11.81et. How much NOS is he pushing? I have been thinking of running some NOS, maybe a 50 shot. Just enough to cool the intake charge a little more. ???

Have you considered the megasquirt setup? I hear that can be setup as a staged system...

I agree- but his setup seems to be working VERY WELL.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

I thought 10 was the next number down from 11. I don't have the money for a 9 secound car.
Blow one trans and broke one axle. The axle let go on a 7000rpm drop the clutch launch. Car did not move a inch. Trans let go in secound gear at 7000rpm's. Only had 3/4 of a quart of oil in it. Seal was leaking. Been running this set up for a year now with out to much drive train failure. In first gear the car will spin the tires or I ride the clutch. I really think the 1st gen stuff is good for allot more power then everyone says. As long as it is in good working order. Don't expect 1.6 secound 60 foot times from this set up.

Chuck is way too modest. Having seen his setup in action at RCR, I can honestly say it's an amazing little car. Good runs! Hope the new rear setup works out for some better 60 foot action and some runs deep into the tens!
