1g collector car????????????????

i have collected the 64-66 mustang since 1981..i presently have 3, and back then, they were were talk about much like the 7 is today (in our forum anyway)....the 7's, in my opinion , are on the verge of an upswing....I have nothing to back it up but i am a new owner of two 1g 7's, and i get feed back like " gosh, i always like that body style", and " those cars are a lot of fun to drive" ...A lot of people say a lot of nice things about a car they know of but don't see to many of (in my area anyway) ...then there is the draw back....rotary....many people are afraid of them??!!...that is what I am hearing anyway...especially at the repair shops...went to a merchants tire...asked them about a oil leak i had under the car....they said we don't tough these rotary cars....its like they are diseased??!!...people who know though...love and swear by them.....I don;t know too much about the rotary engine and if something goes wrong wit it mechanically, i don't know who to go to frankly. I can do little stuff (fluids (mmo...thanks about that Denny!!) and red line oils etc...anyway , the oil leak was in the pan gasket ( I figured that one out),,,,its not bad so I will leave it for now...well...the long of the short..(I am biased), I feel the gsl-se will be the collector car, the others will follow but the se is going to be the collector car and get the most bucks ( I see it now..6000-7000 se's asking price????wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwcjf.............. .............

When/if (mostly when if you ask me) the 1st gen's really start to become collectors items, I think there'll be 2 main models that'll be collector's items to begin with. the 78 1/2 (fine, 79) RX's, since they're the first year the model ever came out, and the 84-85 GSL-SE's. The -SE's are pretty rare, and come with a host of factory modifications that just make them more attractive than the lesser models.

I've heard alot of people, especially at the SCCA solo II races comment about my car to me. Alot of people say stuff like "I used to have one of these, it was a blast to drive" and it's really kinda cool to hear I keep going back and forth wondering to myself...
should I restore the car to factory-ish or should I just go all out and make this one ballsy 1st gen. So I think I'm going to compromise (turbo II motor, but keep it looking stock(ish))

It'll be intresting to watch what happens to these cars once the RX-8 comes out.

speckamp.....I to live in syracuse and albany.....if you are a pureist( and I am) get it close to original...or at least save any parts you take off (ie wheels, stereos etc..) cause when you sell (if you ever do) guys like me want to have that stuff go with the car...and for collectability,, "original" is best.......in my opinion anyway.....cjf.................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...84 gsl-se...88,000 miles 83 gsl...85,000 miles...love'em both....

Talking

I don't ever forsee myself selling the car. But I still have all the OEM parts I've taken off the car in boxes in my garage, just in case I ever want to put it all back stock.

I'd love to get my hands on an 83-85 GSL to bridgeport the **** out of, put a huge carb, exhaust, and some trick internal wizardry so I can have a weekend toy that'll rev to 10 grand and have that awesome brap...brapp...brappp of a nice big bridge.

But that's just me and I've been watching Initial D again.
