1986 Porsche VS 1985 Rx7 GSL (results are in)

Today me and my friend who owns a 1986 Porsche 944 5 speed NA raced. We were pullin up to a stop light. no one is around just straigh open road in front of us. We look at each other and know whats about to happen.

Light turns green we both take off (while barking our tires) at first I lunged out ahead with a better launch then he was right at front wheel, we stayed dead even through the gears, once we hit 80mph going down hill he pulled foward my bumper was about even with his right passenger door. Then we started to slow down due to upcoming traffic and going waay over speed limit. I posted a thread on this awhile ago trying to get your opinions. On this, we called it a tie as we were pretty much dead even the whole time ( sometimes i was ahead barely and then other times he was ahead barely) So in all reality they were equal! w00t for the 7!

I told you you wouldn't lose

I have a feeling he only got ahead because it was downhill (weight disparity)

What about the 3rd gear pull? You did not pull on him? I find that is a magical gear.

my great uncle who I bought my 7 from was also selling his MINT 1986 994 turbo for $1000. I mean, it looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor. My parents wouldn't let me buy it, so my grandfather said he could get a lot more money for it. lol

That sucks, the same thing happened to me when I was 16 or so and wanted the 79 SA my aunt had. My mom said it wouldnt happen, but 2 1/2 later it was in my driveway. It was rusty enough I had to ditch it though, I wish it were a porsche haha.

I'm a huge Porsche fan, and the 944 is a wonderful car in all aspects but reliability. For the money, the RX-7 is a much better car.

Still not a Porsche though

If your car were 13B powered you would have pulled by a car length or so.........

Porsche? Well, I thought of the 944 for a minute, then decided what I really want (Porsche-wise) is a 1956 Speedster. So I'm negotiating (for a new replica - quite nice car).

But that accentuates my auto-overstock problem. If I get the Speedster I have to sell two 7s.

I'm fond of the 80's 911 SC myself, but I've never been fond at ALL of them fat-assed 944's (ugly too, now that I think of it)

like i said you did lose. I hat to qutoe F&F, but It really doesn't matter if it's an inch or a mile you lost and if there was money on the line the Porsche owner would be collecting. And the 1979 911 turbo is my fave old car... 924 turbo's are cool too! and 914's with bus enignes in them are awesome!
