I'm going to bite my tongue on this one. I just called my carrier, American Collectors and increased my agreed value to $10,000. All I had to do was to send in recent pictures of the car. Premium is only $150 for the year. I only had it valued at $5,000, so only a $66 increase!!!!!

The joy of collector insurance is just that. The ability to have an agreed value on the car. This gives us as collectors and restorers of these cars the ability to insure the value according to what we have put into the restoration. I have a 1968 Mustang GT fastback insured with hagarty at 78k, a 68 Coupe insured at 42k. Even managed to get 10k on a 90 LSC Bill Blass. I recently added my 90 RX7 vert to my collector insurance at a value of 9k. Which I feel should be much higher, the restoration of the 250 dollor car cost me about 15k. But over the next few years that will work itself out.

As for a 1984 GSLSE with the od reading. The sky is the limit. If the car is perfect and we all know the production of the 84 se was low. He could easlily get that up to the 15-20k range very soon.

 

Also keep in mind just because we can get these cars insured for these amounts does not make them that valuable. The reality is that the car is worth what another collector is willing to pay.
