1983 RX-7 GX Automatic
I am pulling out the engine and do not believe that I could re assemble it with the space available to insert the mounting bolts from the engine to the automatic transmission.
I noted that the engine lifting mount is also connected through the transmission housing and now suspect that the engine and automatic transmission should be removed as a unit.
Confirmation of this would be appreciated.
Cheers

I've never pulled an engine from an auto, but I don't know why you couldn't get to bolts for any reason.
Unless the auto trans is dramtically longer than the manual the two will come out together. may have to remove the hood and have an assitant close by.
might also be harder if you are using an engine puller and not a chain hoist from the ceiling.
And always remove the radiator it's worth the 4 bolts not to damage it and have the extra room to work with.

Thank you
I was attempting to seperate the engine from the transmission in the vehicle with much difficulty. and perplexed as how I could re-install it later.
I have a manual for a Mazda rotary truck and the RX-7 hanes manual from 1985 to 1991 so I am getting a little misinformation.
From your reply it is normal to remove the tranny and engine as a unit and I again thank you for the info.
The hood and radiator are removed and I have a chain hoist from the ceiling so all should go well tomorrow.
