what is the month that is on the door next to the year. If it is a 6 or later that usually means it is a 79 which would make since because this is the first year for the 7
good luck with the 7 they are the best auto experience you will have

Whats the condition of the 7 like? How much does the guy want for it? Check for rust behind the storage bins, under the wheel wells, everywhere. Do a basic tuneup if needed. There were the early 7s made in 1978, but introduced as a 79 model. Post pics when possible. It could be a pain if it hasn't been maintained properly, just like every other car. If maintained properly it should be a good car. How many miles are on her? Oh ya, welcome to the forum. Check out the faq page, archives and the search button all are great for future questions you have, they are prolly in there. If not(or can't find), post it and well try and see if we can help you out. God bless

Thats sweet! I have a 3/78. The true test of a '78 year model is no right side mirror, hood prop is on the right side of the car, no storage bins available... etc.
Mine is a 03/78 with a moon roof, 5 speed, waffle wheels which were an option back in 1978.. etc. I think it was the GS model the top of the line in 1978.
Tell us what the specs are on it and such?

FWIW. I bought a 1985 7 (red GS with grey interior) and a 1986 B2000 truck (both new) on the same day in late Spring of 1985. (For less than $20 grand, I might add). They skipped a year on the trucks. There was no 1985 B2000 because of a major design change. The old Ford courier style was last made in 1984, then the 1986 came out in the spring of 1985.

Yeah the situation with the '78 RX-7 is just a missing year. Lots of cars were built in early '78 but they are all "officially" '79s. Sort of like how there is no 1992 RX-7 even though there wasn't a gap when you couldn't buy either an FC or and FD new. But the 10th anniversary was an '88 because so many cars were built in '78.
The lowest VIN # I've seen (posted on this forum just last week) is #78. It might be the earliest privately owned production version still in existence. Unless yours is older!
