ok here is a hugh question i need anwsered. i just pull my harness from my car since it was already cut up anyway. im still deciding on a igniton system . and if i use a newer ignition system like one from a 1980-1985 the electrical ignition now if i was to do the electrical ignition should i get the harness out of the car as well since mine is out and if i do pull it out will it work with my car.

Several years ago I came across a site put together by some guy in Cali with a RHD first gen. This guy pretty much did a complete resto using new original parts plus some tasty additions. I wish I could find it for you. He probably has a wealth of info for someone looking to tackle a similar project.

Hell, I found it. Make sure you have a box of tissues handy...

its already converted to the 81-85 ignition.

81-85 drivetrain because the shifter hole has been cut bigger

The wiring always sucks.... just wire up one thing at a time and take your time......

You have a -SE rear end and 12a front suspension. You will want to convert the whole car to -SE specs or back to non-SE specs. Your rear axle has a 4x114.3 pattern (common for wheels), while your front suspension has a 4x110 (uncommon for wheels) bolt pattern. I know this because (you keep on asking "how do you know") the phone dials (rear wheels) are from a base model FC which has a 4x114.3 pattern.

im going to worry about one thing at a time . i think im going to get the suspension and brakes done first, then paint and body, and then wiring. im starting to think i should work with what i know first and then move onto the motor.thanks for pointing out the facts for me im really lost on old cars lol. here is a important question,do i have to convert the whole front suspension to se-spec or do i just have to take hubs out and get the 4x114.3 hubs.

OK i just got the motor pulled out so i can get the engine bay painted the same color as the car. i been debating selling it to get a street bike so i was wondering what people think i could get for it . i know its not the best condition but body wise the body work is already done. its all right now up in the air. im just hoping i can finish it if i do end up going all the way. also since im getting ready to paint it what is a good color for a SA . im alsmot thinking going with a dark green like the engine bay or a blue . need some imput.

For the front suspension, just change the strut assembly with a pair of SE struts. You will need an adapter fitting for the brake lines since the SAs use coarse thread flare fittings, FBs use a fine thread. Racing Beat and MazdaTrix have them.

Hottest color for an SA is Spark Yellow, hands down. What color was the interior, if black/brown SY works. The original dark green is a good choice too.

I have a 78 RHD i've been working on forever now...full blown resto-mod. Good luck with yours...getting that interior back in is quite the puzzle lol. I use the section of the Haynes wiring diagram that shows the UK models and that seems to be pretty accurate for how things are run just for a heads up.
