I love the look of 17's on a first gen (perfect size IMO), but the style of rim you chose doesn't really match the "old school" look of the car.

Keep an eye out for my thread next week when my rims arrive .

Anything over a 15'' on an FB is too big IMO. A 17'' on an FB is like an Impala with 24's, looks stupid to me. Sorry, just not my thing. Too much wheel for such a tiny car. Plus it doesnt match the old school styling.

i think alot of you guys are failing to realize... MIB is runing a t2 in his FB and going to a 17" wheel not only provides crisper handling, bt also a little better traction in the rear, it also opens up your choice of tire sizes GREATLY!! Currently my FB is sporting 15x8.5's all the way around, and let me tell you there are NO decent tire sizes for a 15" rim... I'm running 225/50/15's and once I do my t2 swap these will not be enough meat so i'll be jumping up to some work equip s03's in 16x9 in rear and 16x8 front.

And for the record.... car looks great... but it does need a little drop....

I run 16 with 205-45 and my speedo is out by 3% by my math, the overall size is correct and they look good.

Max's car is the *****...

Those 16's look ok, but I still think those 17's just dont fit the car at all. Too big...

i have a 13BT (or T2) as well and i'm running 7" wide 15" wheels and i got no problems finding tyres. falken do performance tyres, dunlop do that truely awesome Direzza DZ-110 which is what im running now. tyres are in no short supply for 15" rims.

I think they look fine, altough it does need some bigger brakes and a little lower in the front to fill things out.The black inlay on the spokes gives them an old school look, rather than the "bling" of full chrome wheels or the "tuner" wheels which tend to be fully painted.

I also run 17's for the tire selection, gription and look.
I only lowered my car 1",which basically gets it back to stock height. But the sideskirts and front airdam help to fill in the open spots under the car that make 1st gens look too "tall" sometimes, even when stock.17's dont belong on all 1st gens, you have to look the part to make them appear appropriate.Ive yet to have anyone say my 17"s are too big,or look out of place....

Anything over 15-16" looks weird to me. To each his own.

But I must say, Steve's car is too amazing!

I think the size fits the car nicely, but really not digging the style that much. I think that kind of flash belongs with the Honda crowd...

How long before she's ready for me to give her a good thrashing?

If the original poster puts a air dam of some kind on there to compliment the side skirts and rear vailence (SP?) then those rims would look pretty good. Personally I like 15's best, but these aren't bad at all...

you missed the important part of my post... I'm running 15 x 8.5's..... try finding tires for those.... TRUST me selection is VERY limited. Not to mention the price difference between a 17" tire in the same general contact patch size as compared to a 15" is exponential. Maybe tire options are a little different over there in OZ but here 15"=PITA..... hence bigger wheels are in my future too....
