Everything I've ever read about porting pointed to nearly no engine life decrease. As far as overheating, unless you are horsebeating it constantly I don't see how it could contribute to a heating problem. I thought porting would actually keep the engine cooler because it is easier to push the exhaust out. Anyone confirm this?

Bridgeports are very noisy and hard to drive on the street. A half-bridge should do okay, but you'll want to do high-RPM mods to make the most of it. On the other hand, some people say that by the time you quiet a half-bridge down for the street you are better off just going with a big streetport. And that carb should be just fine for a big streetport.

As far as overheating, remember that the heat produced is proportional to the power output, so make sure you have adequate cooling for whatever you decide to do.
