13 mpg city is not bad if you not driving like grandma.As for the points you just loosen two screws adjust and snug them back down on early car's ,later car's are eletronic no adjustment.hope this helps just saw your 85 gsl in post car, should have electronic system

If it makes you feel any better I managed to go through the first 1/4 tank in 25 miles

I also managaed 340 miles on a single tank, and it still had a gallon left to go... it depends a lot on the driving conditions, if the engine's cold, etc.

'85 GS in at 12-13 city. I have noticed however that fuel efficiency in an RX-7 is directly proportional to the price per gallon of fuel. As the PPG goes up, fuel efficiency goes up. When fuel was dang near $2.00 (US) a gallon not but last year, I was able to get fuel effiency dang close to 18mpg. But now, 12-13 is normal. As our ppg is going up, I think I'll get back into the 16-17s again.

UNOFFICALLY:

I managed to get 10.35MPG once when I drove on a undisclosed 100mile freeway at 2am and got to my destation in 58minutes. Do the math, its fast. I also went through 3/4 of a quart of oil. Normally a 100miles results in less then 1/20 of a quart. BUt this was a fun thing I did for the hell of it. Man I was scared once I pulled off a freeway off ramp to get gas after the 100miles and saw a COP FLY by on the freeway as I went over the overpass! WOOOOW..

One time I managed 29.86MPG driving exactly 55mph for 150miles. Man it was boring, did it to see what I could get if I actually followed the speed limit and didn't accerate hard at all.

Normally I hover around the 15-18mpg range with my mod's. Stock setup usually got me 17 or higher even when I beat on her.

I've noticed that one of the most important reasons of having low MPG is the gas you use. I can run more miles on Chevron gas than I do on ESSO.

Also a good air-filter element and a clean and new cat would help the fuel efficiency.

that's my 2 cents

Streetport 12A w/mildly massaged Nikki -- full exhaust w/2" primaries to 2.5' all the way back--drive like an idiot to combat the Metroplex's moronic drivers--->still 17.5 to 19 MPG. Road trips where the engine can settle down yields 25 MPG.

Abeomid,

The air filter/exhaust will be cleaned up soon. May be time for a new fuel filter as well. gonna go with a K&N air filter, and have a new Bonez high flow cat. Just gotta get it all hooked up. we'll see how my fuel efficiecy goes afterwords. :o)

If only I had that kind of time that I could waste (no offense)...

And I complained when I was getting 18 - 20. I must drive like an old grandpa... I don't deserve to own a 7 anymore :_{
