12a tranny with 13b motor?

12a tranny with 13b motor?

if i were to do a gsl-se 13b swap into my 85 gsl, would my 12a tranny work, or would i have to swap to a gsl-se tranny?

also what are the differences between the two?

also, say the engine is currently in a 1980, its a s3 streetported gsl-se 13b with a mikuni side draft, racing beat intake, and headers/full exhaust, i would assume that the front cover and oil pan would already be converted over right? would it be a straight drop in to my 85?

apparently this engine is "blown". what would be a reasonable estimate for a basic rebuild?

GSL-SE Tranny has a taller 5th gear...so you'll get less miles to the gallon when cruising if you use the 12a tranny...thats pretty much the only diff...oh and i think the GSL-SE tranny has a air intake hole for something...dunno why...but it's there...

It's a vent on the bellhousing. It lets you smell a burning clutch more easily.

another question: what is the most important thing to conside when doing the 12a to 13b swap. (considering its running carb, and motor is already in an fb). would i have to upgrade the fuel pump from my 12a gsl to accomodate a steetported 6 port 13b? are the motor mounts the same? anything else a big problem?

i hope u guys understand what im trying to ask here in this thread

if you still have a stock fuel pump i would recommend that you do switch it for a racing one with a regulator. as for the other questions i dunno

upgraded fuel pump is a must.

you already have the 225mm clutch and flywheel, same on all engine 83-88 (N/A).
