Arrow 12A street ported and Nikki

I did a bunch of searches and did not find much info on a 12A street port with a stock nikki. I want to know what jet sizes to use and where I can get them. Do I use weber jets and modify them?

Important: my street port is the size of a 13b street port. If anyone's ever done this and used the stock carburetor and re-jetted successfully, let me know. I am still breaking in the engine, so I don't know if it's going to cut out or not. I've only taken it to 5k rpm so far.

Mine is streetport for 12A and the only way I can keep it from detonation is to retard the timing ALOT. Thus, pretty much keeping me slightly faster (0-60) than stock. I would suggest get a hold of Sterling or RX7Carl and let them mod your nikki for you. They make it where you can use holley jets (which are cheap and availablity is high) so you can test out and find the best jets/air bleeds for your application. Hope that helps some. As far as getting bigger jets, I have heard that just dupming ore fuel (from bigger jets) does help but not as much as more air AND more fuel does. I guess it works like a ratio, these funny things called carbs. I am in no way a carb expert just throwing out my opinion. OPINION - Get bigger carb, no way nikki (stock) can handle the porting you have done. You need more CFM's man.

From what I've gathered from articles and Sterling's website [or maybe somewhere else, can't find it on his website], it really depends on your elevation, the temperature (avg. temp. I guess?), and other things. I'm sure Sterling or RX7Carl will be able to help you.

[edit] Ahhh, I found it. http://www.yawpower.com/racecarb.html. That might be a little help, but I'm not sure. I've read a bunch of the articles on that website (not sure if someone here owns the website or what), and even though they don't really help you diagnose problems or something like that, they still help you understand how carburater's, intake, exhaust, etc. work.

Hell, I've even taken notes on those articles :P Does that make me a loser?

sure you could run the stock nikki but you'd be better off getting it modified to flow more. for future reference holley airbleeds work well for jets they are measured differently (holley uses standard units and nikki uses metric system) like everyone else said pm carl

thanks for the help guys.

By the way, I read somewhere that a modified nikki on a street ported engine with a full exhaust made 186 horsepower at the flywheel at 8,750 RPM. I plan to rev mine to 7-7.5K, but that is evidence enough that I won't need to buy a new carburetor.

it's my daily driver.... I'm pouring money into the drift car.... just wanted something a little more fun than the stock stuff. I had extra street ported plates laying around, so I tossed them in there.....

just wondering, but what year/series were the plates from? cuz IIRC the t2's & fd's had the most area for porting while the cosmo and rx4 come in second

Get your carb modded. The stock nikki is just big enough to handle the stock engine. It deffinately won't handle the ported engine.

currently swapping everything in the white car to a newly bought race car chassis. The pics of the donor car are found here:

The engine is torn down, being rebuilt with ceramic coated housings, etc. I will definately have a picture show once I finish the car.
