12a rotor letter question

ok so i have searched the forum b4 i asked this question but didint find what i was looking for.........

I have 2 sets of rotors from 2 diff 12a's and ther is a (F N) and a (R N) stamed in 1 set of the bathtubs and the other set only has the F in 1 and the R in the other

also the rotor with the N's on them had the letter S on the sides im kinda lost caz every thing i read about them said nothing about any of the letters on my rotors

does any1 have any info or thoughts about this????

thanks Patrick

The S3 12a rotors have just the F&R in the bathtubs. The others sound like an earlier series, pre 82. The s on the side in of no concern. On the gear side of each rotor you should find a letter A-F, those are important because that is the weight designation. The weight letters should match or be adjacent to one another in the alphabet. a/b, b/c, ect.

the n rotors are the lightest of all the 12a rotors... those are the the good ones.. another nice thing about the 12a motors is for the beginner motor builders its really hard to mix up the rotors... f = front, r = rear
as far as the letters on the side, dont worry about those.. on the 12a motors that is...

sorry to jump in, just wanted to make sure. Were the "N" Rotors only Pre 81? and were they the lightest? were they the only ones to be used then or were there others?

"N"

I think they came on the 82-83 models. I have to do some research, but I', pretty sure they did..

N came on the 83-85 engines.
