12A Motor question
Question,
First gen - 12A motor - (We just got this car)
When you turn the key the new battery sends power to the starter. The starter is ok and it's bendix is working, But the Motor itself does not turn over......
Could this motor be shot?
I am going to swap starters to make sure.
Any ideas????????

Try to turn the engine over manually. take a 19mm socket and rachet place it inside the timing pulley and try tu turn it. If it doesnt move, the engine is locked..

If you are postive that the battery and the cables are good, and you are sure the bendix is making contact with the FW, then the motor could to be locked up. Did it run b4 you bought it? Did it sit, if so how long?
Try some ATF in the chambers and let it soak for a day or so. You can work it loose by rolling the car back and forth in 5th gear, but be careful, you could pop a seal if it's stuck really good. Let the ATF work. I've gotten two out of two motors unseized this way.

Thanks for the help.
I will try it and let you know what I find out.
I am sure the battery is good. as for the starter it looks to be doing ok.
As for it running before...... really don't know how long ago but it was running. Has sat for 6 months that I know of.
I have two spare motors if this one is bad but would like to get this running if it is something simple.
