napa is usually awesome on honoring warranties and such. i get a lot of parts there and have had no trouble. seems like the rivits were junk or over tightened. that stuff happens though. glad you're getting a new one.

 

actually thats not the worst he missed a shift one time and the tach pegged at 8k i bet he hit 9....this was with the old clutch FYI

same thing happend to my -SE having fun with a TII in my old town. Sux when you have to fix what you just fixed. ~1-2k on clutch.

I heard to break in a clutch, you should put it in 4th and let the car die out. I never did it, but thats just what someone told me to do...

damn.. you have to remove and replace the clutch AGAIN..I hate dropping the transmision. I did it twice on Labor Day a few yrs back. Maybe you should have your dad upgrade the flywheel while we have the tranny dropped. = P

 

Practice makes perfect/ I once had to drop the trans 3 times in the same week because of bad parts.

 

I get OEM clutches from mazdatrix, avoid overstressing them, and don't have failures.

 

i would upgrade the flywheel but my dad dosent want me to mod my car....ill have to wait till i move out to mod it lol.....hes not putting the clutch in either.....i am....that tranny is so light i actually removed it with one arm this time...last time i put it on my chest and it was a bitch to get off of it cuz im big and u cant get a car too high on jackstands

 

Tell him with the better flywheel it will free up wasted Hp and then it will get better MPG.
Maybe that will steer him in the right direction.

 

I say no. As a father, I would hate to see my son speed. In fact, my son's FB (my former blue FB with streetport), is now back to 100% stock and I used an old clutch that has been sitting in the shed for years. I did many wonders to it that:
1. He has to rev the motor to 2500 just to get out of 1st gear.
2. He cant speed shift past 5K RPM (clutch slips).
3. He cant speed past 80mph.

 

What your really trying to say is that he whipped your butt on a Bonzai run.

yep i did my new one is sitting up stairs....id put in it but we just got like a foot of snow
