What I've been up to (Pretty Pictures inside!!!)

Well I started 2010 by stripping out a brown 84:

Which I added to my shed of parts:

Not wanting to stop there, I started tearing down engines:

They weren't too pretty:

This left me with more and more parts:

You guys suck.

It soooo hard to find good parts over here it's not funny.

With the amount of cash you guys buy cars with over there, you would be lucky to buy a door with over here!

Nice haul you got there!!!

I'm jealous.

Take all your irons and housings and make a 10 rotor sandwich or something. I bet that would make some power.

I started cleaning parts, mainly choosing my best irons and getting things in order for when I found a pair of housings. Two weeks after I was knee deep in cleaning and cataloging, the rotor gods spoke. They told me I was taking too long and needed to focus. The great rotor told me this by filling my headers with broken apex seals, leaving me without a car. I also ended up with a wonderful $200 tow charge, as my car was too low for their usual truck. Yay flatbeds.

It was an odd feeling having my motor blow. The car was idling at a light and then just stalled. That was it, no noise no movement. Apex seal broke and got jammed between the exhaust port and the rotor.

So now, the circus has come to town:

He lives in B.C and from the looks of it he's not far from the coast either. The only place in Canada that rarely sees snow. It just rains a lot, which I would take over snow in a heartbeat.

I too know the feeling of a blown engine. Although mine did not stall, it was close to the same experience. I stopped at a light and when I tried to go the car had no power and sounded like a lawn mower. I felt heartbroken, but at the same time happy, because that just meant the rebuild/porting got moved way up to the front of the list.

So why did you strip the brown '84? The body looks in OK shape. Is there rust that we aren't seeing?

Had no place for it. There was no rust but the paint was toast.

Sorry for your loss. But happy because now you get a "newer/better" car. Granted, there will be much work involved, but the end result will be satisfying I'm sure! Nice that you already seem to have what you need, most of us have to scramble and search to get parts. Keep us posted on your progress.

The thing was a dog, horrible paint and had obviously been in several accidents, as the inside of one door was black, another red and the rear quarters were blue and green.

I have my car to throw money into. It was either strip this car of parts, or get rid of it all. Car couldn't stay around.

Yup, the last two to be purchased from Mazda in North America.

I hope they work for me. Started it up today and they sound sweet. Short pedal travel though.
