What do you guys think?

WOW what a story...brother, brothers friend, dad not knowing. Sounds like your car had the **** beat out of it and it is more work than its worth. Save your interior, and what ever else is left, and put it in another rust free 1st gen with low miles. They can be had for next to nothing if you look regularly on craigs lists... And i mean complete cars that "don't run" with under 100K for 500 bucks that only have a vacuum leak.

.... Yeah sadly I am looking at other first gens as well. Im afraid that if I pick up a donor car that it will be in better shape lol.
I just cant bring myself to give up on it though. My ex DD, a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis was killed by a drunk driver outside rapid city, south dakota in august. I was only somewhat attached to it, and im still regretting getting up early to go to work that morning.
This seven is different. Even if it is pretty much wrecked.

Hmmm...
Sand in those locations makes me think that the driver lost control, spun off the road at speed, and was stopped by some patch of loose/boggy sand.
During this accident, the car also hit a rock/kerb and that's what took a chunk off the gearbox casing.
In their hurry to get the car back on the road before the police arrived and make it out of there, they bent the towing points too.
Sorry to hear about your car mate. Bitch slap your brother for me.

really sux to hear bout the car. but i agree, at some point ur dad had to notice the damage. no question ur brother owes u and if ur dad really is also upset bout what his son did to ur car then he should put the money that he would be putting towards the Z towards the repair of urs.

Step 1: Take everything your brother owns and sell it.
Step 2: Take cash for uber-fast Z car (possibly of the mad-tyte JDM variety) and use it to repair/improve the 7.
Step 3: Get tricycle for brother and remind him that it may be too much for him as well.

Ha ha, I remember you orion, didnt you get one of the early uber nikki's from sterling??
The "fast" z car is "chipped, cammed, and straightpiped".
More annoying than anything else.

Wow, I feel better that I am not the only one to have family totally **** on.
I have the ultimate loser uncle that my grandmother handed over keys to my vert even when I made it absolutely clear that he would be the last person in the world I wanted in it. When finding out this, I showed up with a trailer and had it and my FD hauled off.
There is back story, on a drunken binge he stole a FC of mine once. And also racked up thousands of miles on a K5 blazer of mine. My grandmother always makes excuses which over the years have given him an entitlement attitude. He gets wage garnishments and blows his money, well I have a perfectly good credit card that they can use behind my back to the tune of 16k dollars for fixing his mistakes. This is after I tolerated him living in my home for free to make my grandmother happy.
Parents have a great way of turning a blind eye to these things, dont let yourself get taken. I trust nobody anymore and it has worked out over the past few years.
As you mentioned, without obligations this car will come back together quick.
Best of luck

You make 65K and joined the military one year ago? Are you a commissioned officer? When I joined the Navy in 1982, I only made $15,000 as an E3.

I suggest having a family meeting. Present should be your brother, your dad, your attorney and a detective from the auto theft or fraud squad of your local PD. Make it very plain to them that both father and brother are responsible for the damage and they need to make you whole. I'm assuming your brother is a minor so whether your father knew about the 7 going missing or not, he's still responsible for anything your brother may have done while the car was under his purview.
I also suggest you or your father take your brother down to the recruiting station and sign his *** up. At least in the service he'll learn the respect and discipline he has failed to learn so far.
Sorry to hear about the 7.Post up pics, especially where you think there may be frame damage. There's a good chance it can be straightened, saving the car.

ugh
Be happy. At least your state HAS GTA laws.
Texas does not have GTA. Joyriding etc. but no Grand Theft...
I learned that crappy fact when I was 19 and my roomie stole my Porsche 951 for a couple days and blasted down to the beach and back and totally jacked up my ride... (I guess he figured I would get up in the morning and notice my car gone and just take his to work instead???)

Sorta,
We still have "Crimes of Passion" laws, as well as the "Castle" laws.
In essence, your car is an "extension" of your HOME, thus can be defended with LETHAL FORCE. As well as texas not requiring people to register or have CHL (Concealed Handgun Licenses) to carry a firearm in their CAR or have in their HOME for defense.
All in all, don't try to carjack anyone in Texas, it TRULY is "Texan Roulette"
NOW, if you have a CHL and kill someone, there are laws that protect you from being prosecuted for shooting unarmed people, but it gets grey there and you best have a good story
Honestly, I suggest anyone anywhere, shoot to kill, anyone they see committing a crime against anyone, OR their property. Thieves belong 6' under.

these laws vary from state to state...for example, here in ohio, if you shoot, hurt, or kill someone outside of your home, thats not armed or that poses no direct threat to your personal safety, you can be charged. if you are in your home and someone is in the home and yo uhave no direct route of escape then deadly force is justified. you do have a right to defend your property, you just can't kill someone who's trying to steal your car.
