what is the 3rd fluid container under hood
okay, so i was just filling my washer fluid thing and noticed there is a radiator overflow, a washerfluid and then... container x kinda behind/below the washer fluid one... what is it?

What you can do with that fluid container is fill it with oil, wire it to a toogle switch and create a smokescreen when you need to. Crit taught me how to do that.
So it's not totally useless. And some Yankees might even need it, but they need to use antifreeze.

Or do the toggle-switch mod, and redirect the hose to split hoses in front of the rear tires, and fill it with VHT traction compound for the track... or bleach for some insane burnouts...

the sub zero starting assist was instaled on all non CA spec 7's. it's job was to inject a 10% water/90% antifreeze mix into the intake manifold for de-icing purposes when oil temps were below 32 degrees farenheit. the oil thermo unit in the oil pan sent the signal for the sub zero starting assist to trigger into action. kind of a neat little system. i always keep mine installed.

yeah that is pretty cool, never heard water in the intake being a good thing lol.. but thats pretty cool, ofcourse in NC it usually isn't that cold, but last winter it got pretty dag on cold a few times... like 15 deg. or so... so maybe i will end up using it.

i was mistaken. thank you for the correction!! been awhile since i actually drove a 7 in the freezing months and used the sub zero starting assist. again, spon on. thank you.

just be glad you dont see snow down there..or negative temps to boot. this pas t winter was extremely cold up here. cold to the point that you'd be in pain while pumping gas.. i run a 60K btu heater in my garage just to be warm when i'm restoring my yearly 7.

I pulled my subzero and hot start assists off while removing the rats nest. Really cleaned up the engine bay. I don't drive my 7 in the winter, I guess I'd have to be pretty stupid to considering the weather we get, so it's never been needed.

I have to deal with Mosquitoes the size of B-52s when working on my cars in the summer. Only the Cessna sized ones are out now, but the big swarms are not far away. Everybody has something they have to deal with, but I haven't found anything you can spray to kill the cold.

those love bugs are horrible. those things fly around attatched together and are all over the plce. found out the hard way about the love bugs last september when i was in Louisiana..

Thanks Dave, she's actually due for a good bath under the hood, you can see some grime collected on the windshield fluid reservoir. And now I see why my washer fluid light is coming on when I corner or brake hard.
And I do like the neater look, it goes with my philosophy that if it's not performance enhancing, ditch it - less weight, better looks and much easier to work on.
The AC, PS, cruise, hot start assist and a few other things met the same fate and I don't miss them at all. (But the rat's nest gives me much better throttle response and gas mileage, so after a summer without that I put it back in).
Before the 2GDFI installation:
I'd still like to try Crit's trick with the oil and toggle switch sometime, that could be handy for all kinds of things. Here's how one of the OGTA's wired his toggle to a panic button on the steering wheel:
The wiring is straight forward, just run 12V from your toggle to that connector on the bottom of the reservoir, the one that the plug in this photo connects too:
