Got the Vin wrong on the 83 LE...Should have been JM1FB3318D0735440

Got a question, went and looked at an '83 RX-7 this afternoon, has Limited Edition badging, but I thought that it was just one of those goofy dealer badges until I started digging. It has the 14" wheels & maroon interior, so I'm thinking it's the real deal. Interior is crap on it, it's been sitting for ~10 years, 110K miles on it, 5 speed, manual windows. Was stored inside until a few years ago, but still under a metal shed. Front bumper looks pushed back ~1/4-1/2" on DS from looking at body gap. I'm passing on it, got too many projects as it is, but trying to help owner since I'm a sucker for orphan cars. Can anyone tell me what this might be worth? His uncle that owned it passed away, and he's trying to sell it, and a buddy of mine that knows me as "that guy that likes weird cars" sent him my way for advice. VIN is JM1FB3316D0732603

proud to say I can be added to the list! 1980 10th anniversary edition "X" Renaissance Red
SA22C600332
an original time capsule with 52xxx, rotary engineering blockoff for air pump delete, equal length header and dual exhaust converging at the axle. OG chapman security system ( my 83 gsl has same sticker on driver door) with a/c, auto trans, front (oem?) imsa style front valance , KMC fogs with lexan lenses, both tops and bag ( metal top looks brand new) even a mazda oem air filter! stickers of oem manufacturers all over the place under the hood. spins but nikki is froze and needs a rebuild. spark is good, turns freely. cant wait to make some noise with it!

I just bought a 32,000 mile 1979 Limited Edition. The plans I have for the car are all maintenance , change all the hoses with OEM if available and change all of the fluids. The car will need a new stereo surround and a replacement antenna, since it was damage . I will also need to check out the A/C system to see if it is functional since the drive belt was missing when I bought the car and it was 10 deg. when I bought it and probably wouldn't have worked if I tried it.

Am the proud new owner of a 1979 L.E. Vin#SA22C546245.
I was originally looking for an sa or fb to do a minimalist, modified build. Now that I got this L.E. (already with a bridgeported motor, A/C components removed, and silver interior pieces changed black).
I am now on the fence of whether or not to continue as planned. I may attempt to return all but the motor back to factory..... decisions decisions.

Welcome to the forums, always nice to see new cars come to the surface. Post up some better pics, inside, outside and underhood sometime. This is a good place to learn about what you have, what's correct to make it minty stock again or how to modify it for better performance if you lean that way.

I bought it off someone who bought it off someone who bought it from ebay. The ebay seller bought it from a local craigslist ad which I was also following at the time.
First craigslist ad was the guy who had it in a barn, ebay seller put some parts into it, flooded it badly, and sold it at a huge loss, next owner only had it about a month, got it running, and resold for profit, the owner I bought it from bought it and just didn't like it, also only had it about a month.
Edit: Noticed your location is Akron, are you the guy that sold me a glass sunroof last weekend? I can't imagine there's too many people in Akron with 79 RX-7s.\
Edit Edit: Kind of getting off topic here... I probably should have just linked to another thread. Oh well.

There's another LS near me (exact same model as mine), but the owner swapped in a chevy V6 because it's somehow more reliable than the 12A that came in it:/ i'm on the fence about buying it just to return it to stock, but this is just plain sad: https://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/3297342?ad_cid=8

I am a new member. I just bought a 1979 Limited Edition off Bring-a-Trailer. VIN SA22C 545627. Less than 32,000 miles. Some posts on BaT questioning the accuracy of the miles, but if anyone saw the car - no doubt mileage is accurate (based on condition of pedals, carpet padding, upholstery, console, no corrosion, original spare, long list of low-mileage evidence), and if anyone ever spoke with the seller, no doubt. Seller really knows his cars. I drove it back from Ohio to Louisiana without a hitch. I posted some pictures in my introductory thread. DRO
