Solar Gold LS on Jalopnik NP/CP: Dave's? (Mazdaverx7)
I saw this on Jalopnik. I was reading through the article and saw the pictures, and I was like "what?!? that's a guy on RX-7 club". So Dave, are you selling your car?

Lmao, can't believe they have that up there for their deal or crack pipe of the day. It's definatly Dave's although he doesn't have a lift in his garage unfortunatly...
Honestly can't believe it hasn't sold yet, I mean I know the economy is crap etc etc but its a good price and definatly a collectible... Really doesn't need any work either

yea thats my car, i was really shocked to get a text from Sean (82transam) this morning about it. i'm also suprised that people actually liked the car. but even more suprised that it got picked for the website.
unfortunatly i do not have a lift in my garage, but i wanted to post underbody pics of the car to fully disclose its condition so i used a friend's lift. the friend builds C4 Corvette race cars and is most accomodating when it comes to letting me use his lift! its been arough road trying to sell the LS. the price i have on the car (4K/obo) i feel is reasonable for the car, but to most 7 owners, feel its steep. when compared to other 7's that can be had for half the price it is steep, but for an original 80 leather sport that has not been modified and has been well maintained, i thinks its a fair price. winter is the wrong time to sell the car, but i'll wait for the right buyer.
the CVPI in the street is a dead giveaway its me.. its issued to me from my department and i take the car home and when i'm off it just hangs in the street.. since we have a winter parking ban, it against the law to park a vehicle on a curbed street between the hours of 2:30 am and 6:30 am form dec 1 til apr 1...so, when i'm not working (i work 7p to 7a) i've been parking it in my driveway.

Stick to your guns Dave. The right buyer will apreciate your car and recognize it's value. Anything sells if it's cheap enough, but to do so invites those who would want to tack on appendages, thrash it or part it out. It takes a thick hide and stubborn streak sometimes, but decent LS's don't come along every day.

Nice write-up, though the writer seems to think he's a lot funnier than he is... The 'through the sunroof' gag was a bit 'over the top.' As was the 'golden shower' closer.
I think maybe he's spent too much time 'round Craigslist.

yea, not so cool on those bits and the author only drew a line through the bird crapping through the sunroof bit leaving it as a snide comment. oh well, the rest of the article was a fair assessment though and i was happy to see that the car is actually getting some attention.

As you know, its so hard to get what you want for these cars . I had the Limited listed for 18 months and ended up selling at $2800. It really seems like no matter what the particulars , buyers of these old things expect the first digit to be no higher than a 2

you are actually the only person who is a serious buyer. earlier this year, i had an older guy looking at the car but unfortunatly his wife died at the helm of her Kia and he couldnt buy the car due to financial issues. i get so many people yanking me around on the car it can be discouraging. i'd like to see you with the car. i think you'll appreciate the car and treat it properly.

Maybe dave is on to something though. That all original 80 is all I want in my 85... maybe it does deserve a dignified restoration.....

Ok dave, im looking for a lapse of good weather for the trip out. its about a 5 hour drive, but I think shell make it. It could be as soon as next week or so!!!! Im so excited!! It feels exactly like the time I found my FB hiding in the corner of a forgotten garage under some cardboard boxes filled with olds/pontiac NOS parts.... the little "rx7" badge on the side of the car was the only thing you could see standing next to it.
