Seat cover recommendations

Hey guys I did my interior in black, everything except the seats,
They are still red, I have an 85 gsl-se and I am looking for some nice fitting seat covers
what are you guys using, I am soo tired of the walmart seat covers they never stay on and are really cheap. I would like a good quality cover.
any recommendations?

you already spent the time to re-do everything else, why not get some black seats? or at least (dye) the ones you got?

You are just looking for some pull over seat covers or replacement skins?

When I had the seats professionally recovered in the 300 ZX labor was 450 + the cost of materials. That maintained the stock the look in color I wanted. For the same price I could have purchased aftermarket seats. If you can find a pair of gray oem seat covers, then you can tint them with SEM spray paint, it's desiogned to change the color of woven fabrics and vinyls. Another option is to remove the covers and dye them with Rit fabric dye.

You could also search eBay for a used set set of aftermarket seats, they tend to run 1/3-2/3s the price of new ones. Removing the fabric and dying it is also much easier, except the plastic covers, they don't take dye well, if at all.

I was thinking about painting them, with the fabric paint is there any chance the paint will come off from sitting on it,,,
I might just try that, probably cheaper than seat covers

The SEM paint is designed to soak into the fabric, after drying, brush it out to knock off any loose dried paint. that also helps keep the fabric from getting stiff. For the vinyl, it may peel, it hasn't held up on my shift boot, but that's rubber. Talk to your local autobody paint supplier. Dyeing works best on fabrics, works on the plastic trim too. Leather will dye, depending on the conditioners that have been previously applied.
