Here's a shot to show you how much lower I can go in the front. With the current ride height (as shown above), this is how much room I've got left to lower the car.

Wow, I didn't realize you still had that much room. How far down the strut tube did you weld the perch? I had Sam weld mine at 6 inches.

That is the same position my spring seats are welded at. Keep in mind though, I'm on 13" tires. With a larger wheel/tire, the setting would be lower to get the same ride height.

The weight difference between the RB and Respeed front bars in unbelievable! And it sure feels like the Respeed bar is substantially stiffer too.

so a question for those of you running re-speed rears "coilovers"
bein that there is only one collar on the threaded part what is there to keep it from adjusting its self?

two things.

1. the 2500 of car on top of it

2. the setscrew.

Nothing is needed on the rear. The only reason you have a set screw on the front coilovers is because they twist as you turn the wheel, which can work to "adjust" the collar. On the rear, there is no twisting force, so no self adjusting will take place.

(I asked Billy the same question when I installed mine. Turns out he was right)

I've had the ISC Racing rear threaded spring perches self adjust but a few drops of green loctite fixed that. The design looks very similar to RE speed, which I've never had experience with.

But I also do track days which most here don't.

ISC pics attached.

If I remember correctly the RB bar is about 30 pounds and the RE-Speed sway bar came in at 10 or so. I'll have to double check that when I get home though.

ISC Racing stopped producing the rear perches and everything else for 1st gens, concentrating on Miats now), so Respeed picked up where they left off with their blessing. I'm just glad they are still available.

Does anyone have the Re-Speed Street (bolt-in) Coilover kit? From the look of it, seems you're limited to stock ride height or higher, unless the springs that go on are shorter than stock.

The springs are shorter. For the race version they use 8" or 10" tall springs, for the street version they use 7" springs. You are also limited in regards to spring rate with the street kit. I'm not sure why, possibly something to do with the strength of the stock perch, but that's a guess. Maybe Billy will chime in and say why.

Drivefast7: I checked my rear perches and found that one of them had indeed moved a tiny bit over the last couple of years (1/8"). I followed your example with the Loctite Green.

Thanks for the tip.

The reason for the limit on spring rate for the street kit is that a higher rate will not compress enough at static ride height for most peoples taste.

We have never had the rears self adjust on us. They should however be checked on a regular basis.

I don't recall there being a set screw on the re-speed rear

In hindsight, I shouldn't be too quick to assume that they "self adjusted". When I originally installed them, I was in a hurry to finish a bunch of suspension upgrades before a race the following day, and I know that the method I used now to make the measurements was a lot more accurate than how I did it at installation. There's a very good chance that it was my error that resulted in adjustment difference.

we had mine on the rack, to torture the exhaust, and in the process we measured the suspension travel.

from the ride height i'm at, its got more than 2" of bump travel before it hits the stock bump stop, and like 6" of droop travel.
