Resource for Instrument Cluster Customizing
So I am not sure how many of you noticed my recent post in my thread and it got me thinking that I should have just made a new thread to begin with.
Basically I got bored while I was disassembling my Speedo/Odometer so I could reset the mileage for my new motor. (I can write a little description on that if you are really interested.)
In any case I noticed a while back some people were talking about making custom gauge faces and such, so I removed all the Gauge Faces from my 84 Instrument Cluster and scanned them into my computer.
Hopefully this can serve as a template for anyone who wants to make direct fit faces, I would post the picture but its freakin' huge, I didn't shrink it and I don't know how to thumbnail it. So if someone could walk me through that I'd gladly post the pic, otherwise I can give you the link.

But that's beside the point! This is so if you guys wanna make custom gauge faces you have a reference, in fact, you should be able to print it out and then should be the same size as I haven't altered the size of the picture when scanned for that reason.
But I don't know how to do the thumbnail inset picture thing... I don't want to take up the whole screen with that one picture you know?

Does tampering with the odometer even matter anymore? On titles on my 7's, they all say exempt in my state under the odometer. Besides, how could they know you just didnt buy a brand new one for giggles?

I meant to send me a private message... the whole point of this thread wasn't about resetting the Odometer... It was about having 1:1 Scans of the Face Plates for the gauges so if someone wanted to make custom gauge faces that would fit over the stock gauges, they would have a reference and possibly a template to work from...

This is a good bit of help for those who don't have scanners but one question what would you be printing the new ones off on?
I've made carbon fiber ones but just tried doing it with photo paper and couldn't get it to work too well with lighting and all at night?

oh and to reset the odometer is fairly simple
1. take it out of the car
2. get through all of the gauge covers and crap
3. go to the backside and there are i think its 2 normal size screws on top then 2 smaller size ones on bottom remove these.
4. take the cluster face off and get it out
5. remove the small c-clip on the little shaft where the numbers are
6. slide the plastic rolls which the numbers are on all to the left to get them out of the gears
7. start pulling the plastic dividers up
8. set the numbers from right to left putting the plastic locking dividers back down after each
9. finish and put the c-clip or ring or w/e back on
10.reinstall and done...
i think 6 and 7 could be swapped and it still work
but its really easy
