Rear hatch struts

Rear hatch struts
I bought new rear hatch struts and attempted to install them last night. It appears that there is a piece missing that attaches the strut to the glass side. I thought that perhaps the end piece on the old strut is supposed to be transferred over to the new strut (side with the threaded end). But that piece is not coming off! Any ideas? What am I overlooking here? Please see pics.
Thanks!

The couple of times I've had to change mine the clevis came with the new strut. I think you may have been sent the wrong part.
RockAuto's selection shows all with the clevis, but one has a tab.

Rock Auto sent the wrong part?!?
Not to mention return policy is anti consumer. I'm just sharing because Rock Auto has failed on part fitment more than a few times for myself personally. I feel compelled to warn others that Rock Auto has risks attached.

Combined we have ordered from Rock Auto well over 200 times, only had a problem once when I ordered rear rotors for an 84 gsl. They sent 5 lug rotors for a 86 gxl l, I contacted them and they told me to keep the rotors and they would send the proper rotors to me. They did. I think it comes down to who you are dealing with in their customer support. Overall I don't think you can beat Rock Auto between their price and selection for our cars. Just make sure to do the research to see what works before you order. Also watch their shipping, it can be pretty pricey.

I also haven't had a problem with Rock Auto in at least 10+ years of ordering. What probably happened with the hatch struts was that someone bought them and sent them back with the clevis pieces missing. Whoever checked them in at the returns department probably didn't realize the missing clevises. Other than that, Rock Auto has been great. I do also get a lot of parts from Autozone. Sometimes the Autozone price is only about $10--$20 more. But the convenience of getting it on the spot and being able to take ot right back if there is an issue, is many times worth it.
