I spotted a green Fairlady behind me at the Jack in the Box drive-thru at lunch last week... second glance showed it to be sporting a period-correct Japanese square front plate, too.

It must have been all-original, as it sounded ancient and four-banger-ish.

I nabbed a couple pix of it with the cell phone cam; I'll post them up tonight when I get home.

First time I'd ever seen one on the streets. Not as pretty as the one at Ray's meet, though.

Back when I was a senior in high school, in 1970, a good friend had a Datsun 2000 that he drove mercilessly into the ground, probably about a 1965 vintage. Putting oil in the car was a foreign concept to him, what a shame, he burned up the engine. I've wished I had that car ever since. I think the stock cars came with SU's, like the MGB's of the day, looked kind of like this:

Good to know there are still a few out on the road making the trip to Jack-in-the-Box, please do post up those photos DD!

For you Datsun fans, here's some photos of another Fairlady that showed up at a joint OSJC/OGTA meet last year:

Here's a short video of another racing Datsun. This car was Grassroots Motorsports Magazine's Hotrod of the Month a little while back. Very nice restore job by Dan and John Atsma.

That 240 is gorgeous - - I even like the color (seeing as it matches my 350...)

Fantastic video of the datsun and the vet Kent, those were classic years. Right up there with the FB, 240Z and MGB, in my opinion.

My memory on the front plate was flawed (gettin' old, heh) but this is what I saw at the J-i-t-B last week:

wow, that is super old school. I spotted a fairlady in Japan when I went in December. You might not think it's so uncommon, but Japanese get rid of things that are old like they have the haunta virus. My wifes friend bought a 96 FD a couple years back for $2000 - running. I paid more for my convertible
