Thanks guys, I'll keep posting photos of our events, try to get some of you dudes to move on down here and get some political balance in this place.
Georgia really is a great place to live. I've lived all over, New England, New Orleans, Arizona and about a dozen other places, but nothing beats northeast Georgia for year around weather and great folks. We are pushing 70 degrees F today and we are doing some spring cleaning, nice to be able to open up the windows and use that all natural central heat/AC system. And of course Georgia has a fantastic rotor head community.
And yes, nothing beats that Datsun 2000 for OSJC pizzaz and charm. I should have taken more photos, you should have seen under the hood and the perfectly restored interior. But study this grill shot, it will give you some idea of the attention to detail this guy (or gal, never met the owner) has put into this car.
Still, I'd rather have my 85 GSL, The Silver One, for my daily commute, all around it is just the best car that that ever came out of Japan. (Which means, of course, that the FB is the best all around car ever built).

And Damien, if I may ask, why the hell do you need 15 bumpers?? Your FB doesn't even have one bumper!

easy to make money. some of the bumpers are easy to repair. I weld plastic and I have 6 that I can repair and sell for $100 each. So money for the Mazda and the rest are for to make a bodykit for my civic and other cars.

Please Kristy, tell us more. I saw that car at DGRR last year and I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't pay too much attention to it. I'm not particularly fond of FCs, though a perfect 10th AE and Brian's RE FC get me all excited
, but after finding out later from Nader what it was I really wish I had given it a closer look.
How did you come to aquire it? What else is can you tell us about it?

Here is what I'm told. Mazda Japan sent this pre-production car to Mazda N.A. to play with, tamper with, change things, etc. They would use them for press release photos, reviews and so on. Once finished with the car they were suppose to go to one of their factory racecar drivers to be turned into a racecar. Well this one never made it to racecar status. Mazda N.A. gave it to Dave Jolley; a factory Mazda driver, who didn't turn it into a racecar and also could not street it because of living in California and emissions. So in 2001 with 15K on it he sold it to Jim Downing, who titled and registered it in GA. Jim kept it for his collection and would not sell it till recently. I had had my eye on it for about 7 years. Finally the stars aligned and now its mine with 17K on it (about 1,000 of those miles were put on by my mother driving to DGRR last year). Beyond that I couldn't tell you anymore about the history. I can't tell you if the things that are different were done by Mazda Japan, Mazda N.A., Dave Jolley or Jim Downing. I can only assume that some of differences were what they were trying out for the production cars.
Gosh there are a lot of little things that are different and the more I'm in the car the more I find those differences. The main difference is the mix of FB and FC parts. It has an 85 gsl-se motor. (two coil packs and a distributor) A couple of the differences that I don't have pics on my site yet are.... All the writing on the interior is in white, the A pillars have a smooth finish. There are more things like this. Please forgive me. I'm still in shock that I actually own this car. I'm going into my second week of owning it. I will become all knowing of it soon. Plus my last FC was a 90 vert so this S4, FB stuff is really new to me. anyway. you can see more pics on the site in my signature link.

Kristy, the engine is most definatly an 86-88 EGI engine. the water pump housing thells this story. it does however have the 81-85 style distrubutor with J-109 ignitors. i would love to see more pics of the engine bay and of the car in general. owning a pre production RX-7 has always been a dream of mine and i must say that i'm a touch envious
i'm just curious to see all of the differences!

Thanks Kristy, that's a great story. You've got quite a piece of rotary history in your hands.

Do you know what that secondary exhaust pipe is? I spotted it in one of your pictures in the gallery. So many neat lil things about that car and it's very clean inside and out.

Unfortunatly I won't be making DGRR this year unless something changes on the job front. :/ Last year was awesome and despite being my first time to the event it easily became my favorite, more so than SS which I've attended the past few years. Even ended up driving to Albany with a few freind aftewards. I do hope they give us better parking next time, shoving all the FBs in the corner by the dumpsters was kinda sad. ![Lol](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/lol.gif)

Those seats look remarkably close to GSL-SE seats too. I'd love to see some more interior shots to see if they borrowed anything else from our lil first gens.
