Paint input
So guys, Almost done welding all the holes in the engine bay, and will be doing
primer/paint/clear next. I will be pulling the brake and clutch hardware from the
firewall, all the hard lines, and redoing the hard brake lines. I will be tucking the
hard brake lines under the frame rails for the drivers side, and going around the
inside of the trans tunnel for the passenger side.
Here is the question:
I have the brake booster hard line, Brake booster/fluid res, clutch master, clutch
hard line, brake caliper hard lines, and coolant hard line for heater box that will be
painted. Question is, should I do it body colored? Or black?
I was thinking of painting everything body colored, except for the brake booster.
Should all the hard lines be body colored or would it clash too much if I painted them
black? I am leaning towards body colored so it wouldn't pop out as much and look
more minimalistic.
Picture is for reference:

what color is the bay gonna be?
if its a lite color like white, IMO the lines look better just in the stock gold cad.
if its a dark color, i think you could paint em and they would hide.
IMO! of course

I'm all for painting them the same color as the engine bay. That's how it's done in the factory. After all, these are frigging brake lines, they aren't meant to stand out as a feature, better to have a nice clean backdrop for those big carbs of yours.

When I did mine, I painted all the lines black in a white bay. It makes it look more "cluttered" I suppose, but I like the accents here and there. I was torn however because I too like a very clean and empty simplistic bay. Full thread link is in my sig.

I would think that if you painted those pieces the same color as the bay, it might end up looking like you were lazy and painted the bay with those pieces still installed. Personally, I'd go with a simple black to avoid that and make for easy touchup in the years to come.

I agree with Kentetsu.
When I redid my copper 84, I liked the idea of contrast and to prove I didn't just spray over the existing lines and hoses. It makes it look more complete in my opinion.

Also agree - all the factory bits in correct colors make the paint - and THEM - pop even more IMHO. With it all monochrome, there's really nothing to highlight or contrast...
OR - OTOH - just the motor will stand out, making you a design genius....
Not really helping am I...
