New shift ****.

So, I bought this new **** for my shifter: https://m.ebay.com/Member/G/ViewItem.aspx?aid=260720942245&tid=711532936016&em vcc=0

It's for my miata shifter in my 85. It's honestly exactly what I wanted, either a ball shifter for T-handle, this Ball just happens to be pink. Lol.
Anyways, I'm quite excited for it. It will fit good with my not so original interior. I'm open to criticism btw!

Also, I wouldn't mind seeing pics of anyone else's Shift *****? So post em' in reply..

Before anyone gets pissed (some people seem to get pissed easily), I know my car isn't an FB. But this is a thread about shifter *****. Besides... The **** is on a GSL-SE shifter, which is in a GSL-SE transmission, which is connected to a GSL-SE 13B. So I think it counts.

The **** is custom solid brass. It really just helps tear up the transmission... Or the tires.

Oh and please excuse the lack of a shifter boot/bezel. Cardboard will have to work until I can get my mom to sew me up a new one. (I would do it myself, but it would look worse than the cardboard.)

I got an RE-Amemiya black shift **** (very heavy actually) and put it on a stock S5 shifter. Feels better than stock.

If that link doesn't work just think of a Cue Ball. Only Pink! Lol. It'll match the red interior..

I like all of the ***** you guys have posted. But, Dabrkky, doesn't the brass **** get hot?
I'm pretty picky about ma shift ****. I definetly think the Ball is the best, or a T-Handle.
The shifter, even the **** changes the whole drive. Seriously.

The pink will go with the stripped Nikki very nicely.

I want to get my shifter rethreaded to accept the S1/2 *****. I like them a lot more than the S3 *****, but for now I just have a dark blue stocker.

Everything that the driver has to use to interact with the car can make or break the drive. I have personally been through 4 other shifter ***** (including stock) with this car, and three different shifters (including this one). I've also driven other RX's that had different shifter *****. I think I've finally found a shifter **** that is going to stay with me, not the car.

No, the brass **** doesn't get hot. Both the GSL-SE shifter and the S4/S5 shifter have a section of rubber that is epoxied in place between the lower main shifter piece and the upper handle portion. This rubber effectively eliminates any heat coming up from the transmission/exhaust when shifter boots are in place.

But the only problem I've had with that **** thus far is that it is colder than a witch's tit in the winter due to the ambient temperature. That's what gloves/heater are for though.

In the summer, it seems to reflect a lot of heat from the sun. And what it does soak up, I can handle.

the catch is that you should be able to use a wrench to loosen the chrome nut below the ****, then twist the **** off easily.

Man, looking at this picture makes me want a 79 even more. I'd trade my 85 for a 79-80 any day. And that's coming from someone who's prolly the youngest on these forums.

Sheee... man.. that's all you had to say!!! I was wondering if that chrome nut had anything to do with it.

99% of the ***** I have pulled off in the past were a screw on and screw off situation!

Best **** I ever used on the FB was this ball from my mom's old 1980's Corolla. The FB is a smooth shifter and you want something small and light for more feel.

And don't buy a pink **** OP.

This is what the new **** looks like.
I'm going to thread the shifter down more with a thread die so the **** goes down further. I like how it looks, but I'm not completely satisfied. I'm definetly loving the feel though.

So, I've thought of a couple things, 1. I could draw a tity on top of the ****? 2. If someone comes in the car and asks why my shift **** is pink I may say 'well, it was white when I bought it.

Ha.
