Angry My Rx7 got stolen!

Hi,

My S3 silver 1985 rx7 was stolen yesterday at about 1pm at the local library carpark.

Pic below:

My saving grace is that the car only had about 5 litres left in the tank tops. What is interesting is that my car was alarmed as well as imobilised....

Any help is appreciated. I've been looking for it ever since it has been stolen. The condition of the car is very good. I just hope I get to see it again and in one piece.

I've filed a police report and am continuing to seach all the local back streets for a sight of it. I'm still trying to figure out how they got my car away but it does sound like they knew what they were doing. It is insured but that is not the point, I am horrified thinking about just what my car is going through!

Anyone have any tips? advice? I don't know what I want to see. The police telling me they have found it (and it is a mess), or I never find it again....

Man this really sucks.... talk about a bad feeling.... walking out to your car and going... "hey, didn't my car park here?"

I don't know what else I can do. It's only been like 20 hours.

First thoughts coming to mind is someone towed it away and might be raping the poor girl. If you find it was chopped find the guys that did it and take them into International Waters and have a good time.

That really sucks man. I hate thieves! I really hope that you get your car back in one piece. Also post on the Aus section of the fourm. Maybe someone will spot it. Good luck.

I thought about the tow as well... but I dunno that seems a little far fetched in a local library carpark, at 1pm in broad daylight... with not much room for a truck. I dunno I'm just hoping it wasn't towed!

What sucks is I just had it running great as well. Man, it's such a terrible feeling. I don't know if they are parting it or are going to take the whole car...that's why I said I don't know what result I want, to get it back (and be totally ruined) or to never see it again and get my money back and start all over....

I've already posted on ausrotary.com and will post on the aussie section on here as well.

Anyone got any advice/tips on seaching for it? I've done all the local school carparks and shopping centre carparks...

What sucks is that the police wont find it, it will be from some guy calling saying "hey, this car has been down my street for days now......." I just wanna find it!

Broad Daylight? For some reason I was thinking in the AM.

Check local junkyards or salvage parts depos for parts from it, like those bitchin rims. Ask around local parts stores for some of the stuff that you knew you had and see if they have some lying around. Then you'd know its been parted out and that they've been selling some of the stuff already. Don't mention you're looking for your stolen car though, you never know if you're talking to the guy that stole it from you.

I've never been in this situation and I hope I never will.

Well it's my first stolen car. I'm 22. I've had this car since I was 17. It was my older brothers for 3 years. You gotta understand it's very sentimental to me.

Man, I feel so empty, seriously. What sucks is, that it is really not much I can do until I get the call.

Yeah, broad daylight... like 1pm, just after noon. On Monday. 20 hours ago. Rims had lock-nuts, but I don't know if that will mean much to a thief with a grinder and some time to kill.

That sucks. If I see it come through, I'll let you know. The only 7 I know of in town is an FC Efini import. I haven't got one yet...

Edit: that's actually the model I want, but not that colour...

Why didn't you ask EVERY person in the lot if they seen anything... Oh well tooo late now. But good luck. I'd check every possible place I could for a motor for sale, rearend, tranny, rims, seats, etc... any parts for a RX7 but don't tell them ur car was stolen. Keep looking forever. Don't give up...!!! Something will pop up eventually... It has to, this world is tooo small.

No one was in the lot when I left to get my car... as in, when I went out to collect my car (and found it gone) no one was around to ask.

I did however ask the local petrol station if they saw anything and they said no. I also asked the library if they had cameras in the car park but alas they did not. I'm on the search again now to try to find...

Mine was stolen too, I know how you feel. I found mine, although I dont have any advise for you as it sounds like you have been going in the right direction. One of the other things I did when I was looking for mine was scanned Ebay constantly for parts, and I also posted a wanted ad in some classified ads looking for RX-7 parts, hoping someone would call me trying to sell me my own parts. The plan was to ask to meet and see them, ID them, find out the persons information, and turn it in.

Also, dont rule out towing it away, thats how they took mine. A Geo Metro towed mine away...

From a fellow Aussie,
This is my worst nightmare. With all the effort and hours that we put into these cars, to have it stolen is just heart breaking.

What sort of immobiliser do you have? Would have to think it was towed.
Really, Really hope the car shows up and that its just been for a bit of a joy run.

Good luck Sue

I think you and T.J. covered all the bases

I sure do hope that you find your car, be it in one peice or fifty. No matter HOW bad it is, it is STILL your car.

I don't know how the Aussie system works, but if it's like here, SUE THEM FOR ALL THEY'RE WORTH when you find them.
WHEN, not IF.

Not good I'm also interested in what your immobiliser was. Perhaps having a shock sensor isnt such a bad idea after all with a remote warning system and bloody loud siren.. I'ts got to be the worse feeling ever.

Hopefully we can all work out the best ways to keep our cars safe from these experiences..

All the best, if theres anything I can help with let me know..

Paul.

Sorry to hear your car got stolen in the city of churches.. At least Adelaide is a small place and RX-7s stand out. I have just got back from Laos and am heading for Flinders Medical Centre so will keep a look out on the southside. There are not many of that edition around. Whats your rego number?

Three years ago I made the mistake of leaving mine in the house driveway at Victor Harbor during schoolies week. It was found on the bottom of the sand dunes where it had bogged. Accidently they left 2/3rds of a bottle of Barcardi which I denoted to the 4wd who pulled me out!

There must be a SA curse on SAs.

Treat it just like you would a lost puppy man. Make up some flyers with a COLOR photo of the car and post one on every street corner, gas station, and the library.

Make it impossible for that car to be in the area without everybody knowing that it was stolen. Besides, SOMEBODY SAW SOMETHING!!! You just need to let that someone know that the car was being stolen......

Best of luck man...

Thanks guys for all your advice, ears and eyes.

Car rego plate ROTA 85

An easy plate to remember, and it sticks out.

I've done (and doing) all the ebay search, plus I've contacted all the local rotary places in case someone is parting it out.

I had a hornet alarm system on it. Obviously it wasn't good enough.

I've got about 50 people looking for it, and I'm also going to place ads for wanting rx7 parts (with particular to my colour & wheels) and see if someone takes the bait.

Man this sucks. All help & eyes appreciated.

Funny you say that, I've done karate for 4 years.

Can anyone cheer me up with happy recovery stories?

Also... if...no, WHEN, I get my 7 back, what can I look for? besides the obvious -

body damage
rotor/disc burns
bald tyres
trashy interior
stolen ****

I mean, motor wise and stuff, what can I do (apart from look at the km to see how far they went etc) I kinda remember my dash oddo #. Just give it a good service and see how she runs?

I also gotta face the situation where I got to go car hunting again... I'll get around $7000 back from my insurance if my car never shows......enough to buy another 1st gen (in great condition) but the question is I don't know if I wanna... it won't be the same (if you know what I mean). Might get an FC (I know I know!)

Still...1 thing at a time.
