Minimalistic Rats Nest Removal - have a couple ?'s
Hey guys, I pulled my motor out about 6 months ago and have since been waiting on a local painter to finish up so I can slap everything back together. Since I did this forever ago I have forgotten where most of the vacuum hoses go.
A little background:
1984 GS, 12A, stock Nikki carb, RB header, AC deleted, shutter valve deleted, I removed the rats nest following the tutorial before pulling the engine and it worked great
I’m not running AC, but do want to keep the Cruise Control, so I want to know exactly what I can cap and run this baby minimalistic. I spent a number of hours cleaning, and painting the housings and endplates. I haven’t touched the Nikki yet, because I want to make sure it runs before I go messing with it. The first pic attached is of the stock vacuum ports (not my engine).
I want to run the vacuum advance, so that means running the lines to the second vacuum port from the left. This info is per post 14 from this thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=pcv+valve
I also want to vent the oil system, so I am assuming that I will run a line from the oil filler tube to the third nipple from the left with a PCV valve, Fram part # FV266, in line. Can anybody tell me which port on the center iron/ oil filler tube I would be using? I have them circled and labeled 1 and 2 in the second attached picture (again not my engine).
Lastly, where would I hook my cruise control up to, and what do I do with the other oil filler/center iron port? I have read that I can delete the charcoal canister, hot start assist, and cold start assist without any issues also, but wanted to know if I would have to do anything special to get these 3 things out for good.
I have searched and read through a number of posts about this and thought I might get some advise from you all.
Thanks in advance!

This has been rehashed so many times that no one wants to respond.
The gas tank vents to the charcoal canister, Where "fumes are absorbed" the canister vents to the center iron, or engine, to supply filtered, air and purge whatever fumes it has absorbed, and blow by from the combustion cycle, through the intake to be burned via the nipple on the the oil fill tube. You can use the stock purge valve and vent to the stock locations on the carb/emission plate. OR use a PCV valve vented to a capped nipple on the intake(that used to be used as a PCV valve intake).

that 2nd pic u posted is my engine. interesting how u found it on imageshack as when i was uploading them all those yrs ago, they didn't seem to be working so i have since been using photobucket. the hose on the filler neck goes to the clean air side of the air cleaner. the hose on the housing is tied in with the vac source to the break booster with a pcv valve.
now it's been ages since i've use a nikki so i couldn't tell u where to get the port vac source for the vac advance. and the valve u got X'd in the 1st pic i've always just left it on there with nothing connected to it. some ppl remove it but then u have to plug holes up after removing the little valve in the intake.

Thanks rxtasty3, i did remove the shutter valve and plugged the intake with a small piece of aluminum that i turned down on a lathe to press fit, and i used some silicone for insurance.
My main question is where does the cruise control get a vacuum signal from.

The stock source is the 2nd nipple from the front on the black spacer.
The car seems a little faster with the distributor vacuum lines hooked to that port, instead of the 1st nipple. The cruise control doesn't seem to work well on the 1st nipple though if you swap them, in my experience anyway.

Followup with a couple ?'s
I got 90% of the engine bay hooked up last night.
1st pic: I believe that the bung on the oil fill pipe needs to connect to a vacuum source, can i just use any of the ones on the plastic intake piece?
2nd pic: I believe this hose, which connects to the charcoal cannister, should connect to the center iron bung
3rd pic: I don't know where to hook up the blue circled port. Should i just plug it? Also, Stevan said i shouldn't use the first port (yellow) to hook up the cruise control, so which port should i use??
Please help me out with this as i want to finish this tonight. THANKS!
