Its (nearly) time for a birthday party (4 1st gen 85s)

Its time for a birthday party,
For my car... an 85 GSLSE
Its been 40 years since I saw the brochure, oh.. the brochure, and ad layouts in the magazines. https://importarchive.com/mazda/rx7/...azdarx71984_01
They had been running ads and the dealers had brochures with the transparent interior views of the RX7, the various systems all color coded and the brochure was sheer seduction for the techno geek and sportscar shopper.
In 1984 they had the brochure out again, but I still had my RX5, I wanted one though, Bad.
My brochures were so worn out I replaced them and then those fell apart.
On page two, instead of a photo of the car you would be seeing at the dealership, the page showed the two RX7 race cars that had been winning races, they were serious about winning the owners of other sportscars into buying an RX7, and that's where my dream and the effects of those damn brochures kicked in.
In fact, that Rx5 was the last Mazda I owned for decades. But the dream and the flashbacks of those cars back in the day was still alive.
Most antique cars were not advantaged by breakthough engineering, these Mazda RX7s had to have it to be manufactured and sold in both markets.
This car was engineered with a lot of breakthrough goals and track test tweaking and strengthening of the last of its line, with upgrades like the LS Differential. and ventilated brakes.
They are still out there in numbers, even at 40, these cars are driven by enthusiasts of the technology, not by those seeking the fastest 1/4 mile ET.
They are out there to be driven, and the balance and the fun driving these cars provided the owners made them pretty popular in their day.
This car, the GSLSE model was only made for a few months before the changeover to the 2nd genereation, none of which you will ever see on a track, because the purity of a lightweight sportscar/ racecar was lost in the transformation.
This is the car that sent those seeking performance on the track racing toward a future of winning trophies.
And then, in '91 They WON Le Mans!
There was a competition cheat sheet TSB that detailed how to turn your car into a track car.
With all the luxurious equipment these cars provided it became a luxuy hooner, a car to dazzle your friends and your tires with, while listening to high quality audio.
Lets acknowledge the anniversary of the GSLSE and remember;
When Toyo Kogyo grew up..
When 47 samurai rose up..
When M. Maeda created a fetching sportscar design satisfying customers in two very different markets.
And lastly, lets remember when Mazda went ZOOM and went racing too!
This car has been driven and hates to sit, with 209,000 showing on the odometer,(but no where else), it has lived most of its life being loved in Arizona and run and worn and rebuilt and restored with mostly new components and interior upgrades and suspension upgrades.
I'm driving the dream those brochures promised and the real thing is better and gets better with every drive.
Happy birthday to the last of the best, The FB's and GSLSE's
Let's ON with it! Zoom, Zoom!

They continue to be really something special, and every time I take it out, I get double-takes and thumbs-up. Enjoy the drive,
