i need a appraisal...
hey i am new on the rotary scene and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what this car is worth?
its a 1979 135k miles on the body, received a conversion in '94 to 1985 13b with '76 ported intake and jetted carb. has gsl front suspension, lightweight rotors, aluminum flywheel and heavy duty clutch. this conversion has 85k miles
the car needs a carb rebuild, some brake work and a bit of exhaust work it sat for 2 years
seats are perfect (dark blue) dash is cracked. some spots of rust on hood only nothing bad at all, looks to have a bit of bondo.
oh it was built by MazLowe in georgia if that helps at all
Thanks for any info!!

First of all welcome to the forum.
As far as appraisals are concerned.
We can only give you ball parks. Mods do not really add to the value of a car unless a particular buyer is looking for those mods.
With that said, the best I can offer you is to use the sites such as kelleybluebook, the Nada guide and the oldpriceguide trader. Other research such as going thru ebay , craigslist and viewing our 1st gen classified car section will also give your information.
Remember all these guides and such are just that. A car or anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
Are you tryng to insure the car or what?

I have an 1980 I have to consider selling. I am the second owner, all service records, good condition, AC works blah, blah. There arent a whole lot of shops around here, you will have to lean us forum members and do the wrenching yourself. I know a few rotor heads around here, I have three myself. That isnt a bad price I guess, does it drive or is the carb at the point that it wont even run? Its nice to hear them start before you purchase it, good luck with it, the sa body style rocks.

yeah the muffler is making the most godawful noise but it runs and shifts pretty well, its a bit down on power but i think some basic maintenance will do it well. my brother works at a porsche shop i can probably use on the weekends (metric tools!) there any rebuild kits for that '76 carburetor?

he never had it signed to his name so it would be an illegal sale, he has the paperwork he would just need to pay the taxes on it. im seeing it as a sign i shouldnt get the car, that and i dont have a job right now heh. think i could turn it around for a profit to some of the boy racers around here?
i dont know im still thinking about buying it and keeping it, but it probably needs exhaust work (easy, no emissions here for classics) that carb rebuild, new shocks, springs, i would not be able to live with the scratched up hood very long
it mounts up but i dont need to tell any of yall that.

I would buy it, but would not sell it to boy racers. They would blow it up or wreck it within a month. Guaranteed. If you don't have a job and are sure you can afford to have a 7, then just buy it and slowly put money into fixing it. It doesn't need to run right this instant, and if you work on it yourself, the gratification will be there when you first pull out on the road.

yeah meanwhile i have a civilized car to drive, i plan to fix it up and sell them both at once and buy something even nicer.
its a 93 mazda 626 that runs nicely and i got it for 200 bucks from my bro when he inherited a fairly new truck heh.
