Anyone know what this aftermaket switch could be?

The switch (to the right of the choke) was installed by the previous owner, but have no way of contacting him and asking anymore. Ive switched it both on and off and not really noticed anything but I might have missed something happening as well.

Anyone have a idea as to what it could be for?

Pop it out and trace the wire to see where it goes or what it connects to. Do you have any aftermarket parts on the car like fog lights, stereo, etc?

Im currently on vacation and it randomly came to my mind again, so popping it open is sadly not an option at the moment. Theres no aftermarket parts installed at the moment - no custom fog lights and having taken out radio that isnt an option either.

I'm not sure but, it's similar to the arm/dearm light I have for the Viper alarm system I had installed almost twenty years ago on my RX7 however, there is no physical switch on it, just the light and my system is controlled by a fob, not a physical switch.. It may have had a similar system installed back in the day on your car and the switch you have may have controlled it or put it in "passive" mode. See attached photo.

Once you return from vacation, you will want to trace the wiring from the switch and see where it leads. The switch could be for a number of things, to include accessory lighting or a theft deterrent system.

It engages the Flux Capacitor. I recommend keeping it turned off.
