1979 series 1 rx7 summershot gt

ok, i have the info on the summershot. i found it this morning whilst doing my morning rx-7 reading. it appears that the summershot was introduced in 1981. from the book, it reads : "Limited to 100 models, like its predecessor, it was based on the GT and featured an lsd along with four spoke alloys with michelin tires. this time though, it was pitched at a slightly different clientel, having two tone blue paintwork(a combination of tender blue and canal blue shades), seats trimmed in black moquette, and headlamp washers."
the book states that the Spring Shot was introduced three months before the Summer Shot on 3-7-81. the Spring Shot was limited to 200 models. it had front fog lights, a lsd, four spoke alloys. it was finished in Sparkling Black with a red coachline.

I love a good mystery.
Dave, you crack me up - "my morning Rx-7 reading..." Dude you got issues which I can fully identify with since I was reading the Mazda Rx-7 Performance Handbook while undertaking my morning constitution this morning.
Do you mind sharing what book you were referencing.

Thanks for sharing Dave! I've come close to ordering Brian Long's book on Amazon a couple times. I appreciate the clear pictures you posted. I'll pick it up soon. If I remember right I believe there was a 2nd edition that had 10-20 more pages compared with the 1st printing.

Hmmm. Quite the combination of bits on your SA! Mirrors I would suggest are non-Mazda. A Car and Driver editor duded up his then-new SA Back in The Day with mirrors off a Mitsu Mirage that look almost identical. GT Badge and body side moldings suggest it _is_ a GT version. Summer-shot badge is likely an add-on, just like the Savanna badge back there too. Savanna badge was only mounted on passenger (left) front fender from factory. And since every other "limited" or "special" SA or FB RX7 always mounted the "limited" badges on the B-pillars (as a pair), it would seem to suggest this one was also added on by a previous owner. As the Brian Long book indicates, the Summer-Shot was an FB-bodied car. The headlight-washer feature confirms this (in the text) since this was an FB-only accessory (no room in the SA bumper to install it - signal lens got in the way until the assy was moved off to the corners of the bumper on the FB version). As to lack of antenna hole, all JDM 78-80 SAs had the antenna imbedded in the front windshields. Body had no hole.
Love to see some pics of the dash and interior-
