Well I would love to post up a 1/4 mile run, but the closest track to me is only 1/8 mile. It was spinning pretty bad, the track felt really greasy. I dont put down NEAR enough power to kick the car sideways halfway down the track. But I got a run right after they prepped the track. I still spun considerably, my 60' was a 2.3, but I got a 9.3 @ 75. Not sure what that equates to in the 1/4. Mid to low 14? Probably will be a while till I get an actual 1/4 run. The car ran really good, better than I expected. I was thinking high 9 second 1/8 with mid 60 mph traps.

I made a 15.023 1/4mile

streetport, 14" DR, 12a, stock clutch fan, 1985 GSL w/sunroof pwr windows and all, no A/C though and some interior weight reduction. 4.44 rear, DCOE 45 weber, with Greddy muffler and 2.5 exhaust. I got no trap speed though. I can try to find the time slips which I should have stored in my warehouse somewhere, but the time is official.

That was sea level in Panama City, Panama with a calibrated porta tree in a drag event. Won the 15s class 4 times that year running the same engine, time range between 15.0s -15.3s through several different events. Car is still running the same engine, that was in 2005 and has not seen the track since, but the car is used on a regular basis.

It's getting ready for better numbers with the same engine, but with a better carburetor 48IDA with small venturis, and wideband tuning. Hopefully we will hit 14s and still be able to use the car on the street on a regular basis. Car is still under my name, but a good friend of mine uses it I got no room for it now, so I guess I'm allowed to post it here.

I hardly post here now that I got a turbo II, but my heart is always with the FBs, I just love them.

The fastest rotary 1st Gen is a 7-second car in Puerto Rico. It's White and has YouTube videos.

If you guys want to be on an updated 1/4 mile list, head to Rotary Car Club. I think this one is DOA...

I went to the strip at las vegas a few nights ago and my buddy ran my 83GSL.

r/t.. .708
60'.. 2.352
330.. 6.550
1/8.. 10.058
mph.. 70.17
1000.. 13.097
1/4.. 15.686
mph.. 87.13

13b GSL-SE motor(stockport), rb headers with no cats or silencers to a rb muffler. Sideraft mikuni 44 phh. No traction through first and half of second. I was expecting 14.5s. My expectations set to high? I thought a carb'd se motor(n/a) is a lot quicker than when it came with fuel injection(n/a)?

You need a bigger carb...a 44phh is good for a stock or streetported 12a but I would go with either a holley or an 48IDA for that 13B. It should have at least ran a flat 15s. You need better tires and a good diff (4.44 gears) and even with the 44 should be right on low 15s

I got 3 runs in at the drag strip tonight. I'm not using my fancy intercooler pipes yet, EBC is not wired in yet, no water injection or charge cooling, just a nice rich mixture.

S2 12AT using 9.4:1 compression, tall port mild street ported, S5 Turbo on custom manifold, 3" dump with 2.5" press bent exhaust. 4.44 rear end, with the GSL LSD I bought off elpena.

Run #1 FIRST EVER in any car 14.29 @ 96.38MPH

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsJp45zwUPs

Run #2 SECOND EVVER in any car 14.58 @ 97.91MPH

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baPpXmgKjXo

Run #3 I'm not uploading, I added 10% fuel via req_fuel increase from 7.0 to 7.7 to see if I could trap more speed, and I blew out the spark mind run and ran 15.8x @ 93.xxMPH

You're way off where you should be with a turbo, and that rear end. you need to work more on your launches. In my car I find dumping the clutch at about 3500 seems to work pretty good.

I had one more go with a completely heat soaked engine bay.

I have installed an EBC since the last run but the whole night was full of my car problems! Boost response is better, and it hits higher boost by about 3rd gear it can hit 10psi, and 4th starts at 10 and slowly rises to 10.5.

My car needs more work as well as better driving.

The street slick that were on had minimal traction due to them being brand new (should have done a bigger burnout) 1st 2nd and 3rd had wheel spin finally got traction at just over half track.

Going back out shortly with the new rebuild engine once it's run in!!

almost every friday night they have a street legal race night. Cars must have permits or full insurance to be raced.

2.25 short time
14.360 E.T.
98.01 MPH

Lots more details in the dyno thread but something more succinct:

Car: 1984 GSL, N/A 13BT block, street ported, 9.4 rotors, Megasquirt, 680x2, one MSD driving L+T, stock 12A midpipe

Also 4.08 gears, hard-as-rock 225/50-15 BFG gForce Sports. Through traps at a hair over 8000rpm in 3rd. Was driving in 100% street trim including having 40psi in the rear tires and a full tank of fuel. Weight 2700lb with driver. (If you could, leave the '80 up there please)

Will be back after fixing the slipping clutch and de-restricting the exhaust.

Had 2 more goes on the 1/4mile. 2 new personal bests in a row, with a new MPH record for me!

KPH: 134.61
1000ft: 11.688
ET: 13.765
MPH: 108.96
KPH: 175.35

Track Conditions for both runs approximately the same.

14,15deg,98,100%H,1018mB, 241RA,251RA, TT 22deg, TT 21deg.

Basically, the run with the high MPH I bogged the start getting used to the semis, people who watched the run from the sideline confirmed this and said launch with more revs. I finished that run in 4th at 8500-8800rpm I suspect, I did not datalog.

2nd run, new PB 13.362 @103.76MPH, My 60ft time was good, there is still approx 0.250 in that. I also decided mid run that it was a clean run and I wanted to shift into 5th to see if I got another MPH or so, but I mist 5th gear, and that is why MPH dropped even tho it was a beautiful run. I'm pumped and my new goal is 12.99. I don't plan on changing much setup wise to get there, maybe a proper burnout, lower tyre pressure, and fix a few little problems I have.

My NEW times....

Finally installed some Mickey Thompson ET Street drag radials on my TII converted GSL-SE and went to the track to get use to them. Just as a reference, my best time on street tires was a 13.3 @ 117mph.

New time Slip from Palm Beach International Raceway..

R/T... .099
60'... 1.968
330.. 5.489
1/8... 8.249
1000. 10.635
1/4... 12.596 @ 115.80

I had 4 runs and this was my best time. I am playing with tire pressure, rpm launch and burnout/warmup time to get my times lower. Practice should help me improve..

WITH the silencer in the tailpipe (IE fully street trim)

14.11 at 99.28

Backed up about 15 minutes later with a 14.20 at 99.57.

Can't get a pic of the timeslips, sorry.

Interestingly enough it gets its best 60' and more importantly 330' times by blowing the tires off in 1st gear instead of the old hook-n-bog.

I am SO CLOSE to 100mph that I can taste it. I want to see triple digits just once on the 680x2 injectors before I upgrade to 480x4.
