Quick question. Why do you need to restrict the oil going to the turbo?

Too much oil makes them smoke, its like having too much oil pressure in the engine.... too much isn't terrible, it just makes the oil squeeze past the seals.

Pretty much what he said. You don't want oil getting into the compressor or turbine housing, a few drops of oil will make your car smoke for a mile.

Thanks, I figured it would be something like that.

So if your car produces heaps of smoke you'll just restrict the line more until the smoking stops?

UPDATE:
MUHUHUHUAAAAA!!!

Note: the small gap between the tranny and the driveshaft is because the rear wheels are off the ground.

I guess thats one way to do it But I talked to the guy I got my turbo from (Bryan at BNR) and he told me to go no smaller than a .085" orifice. I told him I had a .081" in there and he said it was fine. But the other two keys are
1. Have a nice oil drain for the turbo (big and down hill)
2. Try to have minimal "crankcase" pressure so the turbo will drain more effectively.

Damn Alex.... thats a freakin driveshaft!

Where are the balance weights though? Or did you just take it home for a test fit before it made it's way onto the balancer?

Damn... you should have had your driveshaft guy make two of those suckers...

$362. It hurt to pay that in cash only . He claims it's good for over 800hp no problem though. Already balanced.

The rear will go before that driveshaft. They aren't all the same measurements either cam. Mine was 42 and 3/16. My buddy's is 42.75. Wierd..

Is that driveshaft suitable for the Ford rear end? Just change the yoke or something.

Intresting, how did you come up with your 42 3/16" measurement? Measured from where to where?

From the transmission spline to where the driveshaft bolts up to the rear end.

With the rear axle hanging or with the weight of the car on it?

I put the jack under the pumpkin, and jacked it up so the car would be off the jackstands. This way it is the correct length as when the car is resting properly on it's suspension, when it's on the ground.

I'll be honest. I originally screwed up and measured with the car on the jackstands and the wheels in the air. The driveshaft shop owner was smart enough to ask me how I measured before he started. I had to go back and remeasure. It was about .75 of an inch diffrence.

Remeber cam we measured out from the rear of the trans, right at the rear seal, to the back of the pinion, so that included the pinion flange. And I think , I got 42.5 , so 42 3/16 doesnt sound out of whack any at all, actually sounds the same
