Cool What's the fastest you've had your FD??

Hey guys....Just curious....I have a pretty much stock FD. The other night (2:30am), I had about a mile of 4 lane highway in front of me so I closed the windows and sunroof and opened her up. It was about 60 degrees out and she was pulling hard. I topped out somewhere between 155-160 before I **** myself Do the stock ecu's have a speed governor? What's the fastest you've taken yours?

Fds from Japan have speed limiters at about 180 km/h
U can get rid of that by cutting a wire
Its very easy
Ive had mine to about 220 km/h b4 i backed off.
I also shat myself

US spec FDs do NOT have a speed governor a HEALTHY stock motor fd should be good for 175-180mph (limited by available power). I have only had mine up to 145mph.

PS there was another thread on this subject - try a search if you want to see more top speed claims.

I believe that it is about 1.6129 kph = 1 mph. Not 100% sure but I think it is something like that. Anyways, I have only been to about 120 b4 I backed off. Not scared of the speed but of a monster ticket, night in jail, my parents, car impounded, etc.

not in an RX-7, but still...

Fastest I've ever gone in a car was 180+.... It was in my brother's 2000 S4 (those cars just ******* amaze me).

I actually started to lean more towards AWD after being around his car so much, but now i'm back to an FD

top speed for a stock s4 is like 143, drag limited. he's got DP, exhaust, coilovers, and a GIAC X-chip, top speed with that is like 174, and we were going down a hill, so i assume we got to atleast 180.

yeah guess what, his passenger-side turbo is bad. god it sounds so awful, metal rubbing against metal really quickly.

he's out of town working right now, he might pick up an FD for me and drive it back...but i want to drive it before he does

I was only around 125mph. At that speed it felt fast, kinda shaky, and the rear likes to float. I guess thats the stock touring springs and no down force for ya. I got my wheels balanced which helped a little with it being shaky now I need to get an alignment.

This spring with cool air, I was out checking to see if I still had boost creep problems after opening the WG some more. Was on a toll road and when I got an open section, I floored it.

Was looking at only the road and boost gauge as I took off. My start speed was about 80mph. As I came up to some cars, and let off the gas and before hitting the brakes, I saw the speedo arm drop from 170 through 165.

The car was still accelerating when I let off. My dynoed power about that time was 312RWHP at about 6500 with a very flat 269ftlb torque curve. Using math, that speed would also been at about 6600 rpm.

Since then I have only been up to 150 doing some more fuel AFR, EGT, and timing testing.

I love open Texas roads.

stupid, but....i hit 135 at night, on a narrow 2 lane hwy. dumbest thing i've ever done. there's deer around the area all the time, and i couldn't really see anything. my roommate had just done some exhaust work on his 2002 eclipse and wanted to see what it could do. i was bone stock.

we made three runs, each time i had to give him a good lead cuz i'd start closing on him. anyway, i did 120, 135, 125. by the end of the third run i had so much brake fade going i almost went off the road at 100 mph when it started around a slight bend

i don't think i've been over 105 since, and definately NOT at night! i almost pissed and **** myself after that third run.

for the record, i don't think he got above 120

I was doing like 90 mph one night and this little civic comes wailing past me at about 125-130. I put her into fourth and let her rip. Shifted fifth still in it, flew by the civic, looked down briefly(very briefly) and saw about 155, in that range. Never do that again. Luck y I had a mile to slow down w/o the brake, no one likes to touch the brake pedal hard at anything over 100-110.

I drive my car about once a week or every other week. When I do have it out, about 90% of the time, I'll redline or come close to redlining 4th gear so speeds of 140 (speedo error not taken into account) are a regular occurance. Granted, small town and I "know" all the cops since at one time I delivered their paychecks. Fastest was when the car was bone stock, almost 7 years ago...redlined 4th, shifted into fifth, held it for a little while....but backed off since it seemed to be hitting the wall....155 was on when I looked down so MAYBE 157 at most again not taking speedo error into consideration. Mine is a touring, so no wing at that time, less drag. Car felt pretty stable, but feels even more stable with the racing beat wing on back and the r1/r2 air damn on the front helping with less air underneath.
