*****Ottawa Mazda Meet 2008! June 7-8*****
People have been wondering about this, so here it is.
The 7th annual Ottawa Meet!
Still some details to be worked out, but this is what is planned for now.
For those of you not familiar with the Ottawa meet, it consists of a show and shine, BBQ and party on Saturday and a cruise on Sunday.
The turn out is usually quite good and it's always a fun time.
WHEN: **JUNE 7-8 weekend**
The meet starts off with a show and shine on JUNE 7th starting at 2PM until about 4-5pm. The plan is to be holding this at the Kanata Recreational Complex (in Kanata) again. There are restaurants nearby. Directions to the KRC can be found through this Google Maps Link. This is a good place to meet everyone and check out peoples rides.
After this, Will (RXcetera) is kind enough again this year to have the BBQ at his place later in the afternoon/evening. Directions will be provided at the show and shine.
On JUNE 8th, we will be holding our annual cruise. Details still to be worked out, and the cruise route will be announced during the show and shine.
The Ottawa meet is an RX-7 meet, but it is open to all Mazdas. And any and all rotary powered vehicles!
For more info or suggestions, please PM me or vipernicus42 (Jon) or post on this thread.
Feel free to post this thread in other Mazda forums. Spread the word! Make sure to LINK BACK TO HERE when you do though, since details can change!
Hope to see you all there!

Stickied. Maps and hotel information will be posted in the next day or so when I get time.
Jon
Edit: anyone local with route suggestions for the cruise can PM me. We're debating between Ontario (nicer roads but stricter authorities) and Quebec (craptacular roads but less pressure)

Can't wait. Hope the weather's on our side.
For guys coming from out of town, do we know if there'll still be a place to pile people up for the overnight stay? Or a few charitable locals who'll accommodate us out of towners?

Show and Shine Location
Hey Guys,
Here's the location for the Show and Shine. It's the same place it's been for the last few years when we couldn't use the Corel Centre/Scotiabank Place. I know the Sens dropped out of the playoffs first round so the Scotiabank Place will probably be free, but they've been getting **** about people using the lot without "renting" it first.
Kanata Recreational Complex
I'll edit the opening post with a pic of the map.

Accomodations
Hey Guys,
For hotels, check out this website:
http://www.hotel--canada.com/hotel_ottawa_canada.html
I recommend the Travelodge on Carling Avenue. It's pretty central between the KRC and Will's place, right off the Queensway. It's clean, about $125/night for a room with 2 Queen beds, and not in a shady part of town (like those who stayed in Vanier last year!).
And hopefully some folks can open up some spots at their places. I've got a futon and a couch so I'll probably be able to take two, as long as you don't mind keeping the noise down - I still live with the folks while I save up the down on the condo I want to get.

if you want, just confirm before the meet so that you aren't without somewhere to stay Saturday night.

If someone steps up and volunteers to make one, sure. I don't believe any of this year's organizers have the equipment and/or video editing software to do that, though I could be wrong.
Anyone with a video camera and some video editing software care to volunteer?

I'm sorry to say I might not be able to go this year to Ottawa.
As it turns out, a very good friend is having an event on the same weekend.
I'm gonna see if I can possibly arrive in Ottawa late at night. But as it stands right now, it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it.
I'll keep trying to figure a few things out.

That's sad.
I also think I'm the only one here thinking of making the "trip" to represent the Québec guys. It does fall the same week-end as the GP.
Hopefully I'll make it.
